Aimbridge and Wiens Group Open an Aloft in Denver
Lifestyle hotel deviates from traditional Aloft prototype
BROOMFIELD, CO, May 8, 2009 - Aimbridge Hospitality and Broomfield Lodging, LLC announce the opening of the Aloft Broomfield Denver. Aloft, the Starwood Hotels & Resorts Inc. urban lifestyle brand, brings style and atmosphere to area visitors and residents by giving them a fun way to play and stay. This is Aimbridge Hospitality's first Aloft hotel in Colorado and its first joint venture with Wiens. The 139-room hotel is the sixth Aloft in the Aimbridge Hospitality portfolio and the second of four it will open this year. It also is the 25th Aloft to open in the world. Aimbridge Hospitality also manages the Doubletree Hotel-Denver Southeast in Aurora and the Embassy Suites Denver Airport.
Located at 8300 Arista Place, immediately southeast of the Interlocken Advanced Technology Environment/Interlocken Business Park, the Broomfield/Denver facility is unique to the Aloft brand because it features 7,555 square feet of meeting space and is built over 11,000 square feet of main street retail space featuring a new 5,300 square foot signature restaurant developed by the Kevin Taylor Group, operator of six award-winning Denver-area restaurants including Restaurant Kevin Taylor, Rouge, Palettes and Prima Ristorante. The property is owned by Broomfield Lodging, LLC, an entity wholly owned by Wiens Enterprise, LLLP, and is part of the Arista development. Aimbridge Hospitality, a hotel real estate and management company based in Carrollton, Texas, will have an investment interest in addition to managing the property.
"On behalf of Aimbridge Hospitality, welcome to the Aloft Broomfield Denver," General Manager John Muller said to several hundred guests at the hotel's ribbon cutting ceremony April 30. "This hotel is a natural complement to the Arista community, which is a breakthrough concept in town center development. We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with the Wiens Group by managing one of the most unique Aloft hotels in the brand's portfolio.
"In addition to our expanded on-site meeting space, main street retail and restaurant, guests will have walking access to Arista Place -- the energy epicenter of the Denver/Boulder northwest corridor, which includes shopping, parks, entertainment and professional sports teams," he added. "It's an exciting venture for everyone involved."
Arista Place, the town center of Arista, has been designed to be a fun, eclectic retail pedestrian mall featuring the Aloft hotel, office space and residential units. The buildings feature a unique, contemporary urban design. Arista is one of the only town center developments in the nation to be anchored by a major entertainment venue that hosts concerts and sporting events. Arista's Broomfield Event Center is home to the Central Hockey League's Rocky Mountain Rage team and the National Basketball Association Development League's Colorado 14ers team.
Style, Ambiance and Amenities
Tim Wiens, president of the Wiens Group and Arista developer, said the selection of the Aloft brand was a critical step in the planning of the Arista Community.
"We have a good sense of our community and believe Aloft is a perfect match for Arista's distinctive blend of sophistication and active life style," Wiens said. "We are proud to have the Aloft as part of this project which reflects Arista's style, ambiance and uniqueness. Just as critical as the brand is the management company. We partnered with Aimbridge Hospitality because of their proven track record of success with Aloft."
The Aloft brand by Starwood Hotels and Resorts is notable for its loft-inspired design, accessible technology and a stylish urban attitude. The 92,387 square-foot Aloft Broomfield Denver offers guests a total sensory experience, with guestrooms featuring nine-foot ceilings and oversized windows creating a bright, airy environment. As a Vision of W Hotels, the Aloft hotel stays true to the W Hotel brand's heritage, offering atmospheric public spaces designed to draw guests from their rooms. Guests can read the paper, work on their laptops via hotel-wide complementary wireless Internet access, play a game of pool or grab a drink with friends at the re:mix communal lobby area and w xyz bar. The re:charge fitness center and splash, the heated indoor pool, give guests options to de-stress and re-energize; while re:fuel, the 24-hour one-stop food and beverage pantry, offers sweet, savory and healthy food to guests.
"The urban design sensibility and lively social atmosphere of Aloft Hotels make it a perfect match for the dynamic Arista community," said David Aupied, Senior Director, Franchise Development for Starwood Hotels & Resorts to the group. "Bold and stylish, the Aloft Broomfield Denver will deliver an eclectic and electric experience targeted to savvy travelers and area professionals."
Broomfield Mayor Patrick Quinn concurred with Aupied, saying opening of the much anticipated Aloft brings excitement to the Broomfield community and overwhelming appreciation for the Arista project overall.
