Java Plus Coffee & Wine Bar Opens at Clayton on the Park
ST. LOUIS, MO, November 2, 2005. Trendy Clayton on the Park may set a new trend for hotel lobbies. The same people who put a 500 gallon salt water aquarium with St. Louis largest live coral reef in their hotel lobby have now added Java Plus Coffee & Wine Bar. "Now guests can check in and order a glass of wine and check out with a latte," says General Manager Micarl Hill.
"The addition of the 24/7 Java Plus Coffee & Wine Bar has brought a new dynamic to our already chic lobby," he adds. "Many hotel guests and apartment residences begin and end their day in our lobby. Guests like the idea of being able to lounge around the WI-FI lobby with a variety of Kaldi's coffee drinks and pastries in the morning and sip a glass of wine after the day is done. And, all the while, enjoy the antics of the colorful tropical fish that populate our coral reef."
Architect Rod Callies, Callies Architecture, made sure the new Java Plus is an extension of the existing maple, steel and exposed concrete front desk, that makes a sleek transition to morning, noon and night refreshments without interfering with the lobby's clean contemporary design. A variety of pastries and egg, cheese and sausage biscuits with Kaldi's coffee drinks are offered in the morning. Noon fare is sandwich's and soups. In the evenings Java Plus becomes a wine bar and also offers beers and alcoholic coffee drinks and mochas. Limited seating is strategically placed around the lobby.
"Receptivity to the new concept was instantaneous," says Hill. "Both our hotel guests and apartment residents embraced the convenience, value and menu offerings. Java Plus Coffee & Wine Bar has brought an entire new energy to our lobby plus local Clayton residents and workers who need their morning cuppa joe. After all, we are a society that is on the go."
