. October 14, 2008

WASHINGTON, DC, August 31, 2006. According to LATINA Style, the companies that made the list were named for their sensitivity to the needs and goals of professional Hispanic women in the workplace. More than 800 of the most prominent corporations in the U.S. were included in the extensive search.

David Rodriguez, executive vice president of human resources, Marriott International, said, "We're very proud of the work we've done in opening doors for professional Hispanic women. Additionally, we are excited about what lies ahead as we continue to provide opportunities for the rich diversity of dedicated associates who make up the Marriott organization."

As part of Marriott's commitment to diversity and women's leadership, the company regularly conducts women's leadership conferences, offers tuition reimbursement and provides alternative work arrangements and a national directory for discounted childcare.

Companies responding to LATINA Style's questionnaire were evaluated based on issues that its readers identified as most important to them in the workplace. Among the principal areas of evaluation were: number of Latina executives, mentoring programs, Latina board members, educational opportunities, alternative work policies, dependent/childcare support, employee benefits, women's issues, job retraining, affinity groups and Hispanic relations, and supplier diversity.
