High-Speed Internet Access to be Available at all Best Western Hotels Throughout GB!
UNITED KINGDOM, November 10, 2005. Best Western Hotels - the largest group of independently owned and managed hotels in Great Britain - is set to complete a lb1.8 million installation of High-Speed Internet Access (HSIA) in all its 312 hotels throughout England, Scotland, Wales and the Channel Islands by 1st January 2006.
Best Western Hotels is committed to internet-enabling all of its hotels covering, at minimum, public areas and at least 15% of bedrooms by the New Year. Specialist technology provider Divine Internet Group Ltd is in the process of implementing wired and wireless access in bedrooms, and public areas such as lobbies, receptions and conference areas. Divine is combining a range of carefully tailored solutions comprising Telkonet's powerline (PLC) communications technology, wireless equipment from ZyXel and ANTlabs billing gateway offering control and security.
Using the latest technologies, this package offers guests the option of either hard wire or Wi-Fi access points, or a combination of the two without the need for cabling. This wireless roaming option offers guests the flexibility to use the Internet from anywhere in the hotel and not be constrained by cables.
Mike Goryl, Head of IT at Best Western comments," More and more guests, both business and leisure, are requesting Internet access as a prerequisite to their stay, with either their room becoming an extension of the office or just wishing to keep in touch with family and friends. Installing HSIA at all our hotels is therefore key to remaining at the forefront of technology and providing customer satisfaction."
Guests can be reassured that our hotels, many listed and historic buildings will not be disrupted by the installation; the beauty of it is that the systems are non obtrusive, it's simply a case of period properties coming of age."
Robert Barr, Chairman of Divine Internet Group Ltd said, " This initiative by Best Western provides guests with reliable and secure access to the Internet in the easiest and most hassle free manor, without the worry of configuration problems, thus giving the group a competitive edge in the market place.
What's more, the network infrastructure installed in the hotels is 'future proof' enabling the opportunity for hotels to set up voice over IP- telephony and video streaming as required."
Case Study
Best Western Waterton Park Hotel, Wakefield
This 60-bedroom Georgian mansion, situated on an island, surrounded by a 26-acre lake, was the first Best Western hotel to install HSIA through the Divine Internet Group Ltd.
Debbie Taylor, Conference and Sales Manager at Best Western Waterton Park Hotel commented, " We installed HSIA to help secure a conference and have never looked back. I am staggered by the number of meetings, conferences and leisure bookings this initiative has generated."
Debbie explains, "We were contacted by a multi-national medical company as a prospective venue for a conference, however HSIA had to be installed if the event was to go ahead, and it needed to be done within a week! We were fully installed with HSIA within the conference room and bedrooms in three-days, through Divine, well within the time scale, therefore securing the contract. The medical company was so impressed with the offering; a second conference was booked on the spot."
