Seeing Stars at the Asia Society Southern California's Annual Gala Dinner at the Historic Millennium

LOS ANGELES, CA, June 9. 2005. The Asia Society Southern California hosted its annual gala dinner and conference on June 8 and June 9, 2005, at the historic Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles. The events were an effort aimed at strengthening the political, economic and social relationship between the United States and China.

The gala dinner highlighted "Asia's Impact on Our Lives," with Academy Award winning actress, Halle Berry (Monster's Ball, X-Men) serving as the Mistress of Ceremonies and Youjun Yu, Executive Deputy Governor of the Hunan Province in China, providing the keynote address. Asia Society Chairman and Vice Chairman of Bear, Stearns and Co. Inc., Donald Tang, served as the gala's host. Other celebrity guests included Kelly Hu (X2, Cradle 2 the Grave) and Jami Gertz (Sixteen Candles, The Lost Boys).

The gala dinner was also an opportunity to honor four distinguished guests for their extraordinary efforts in their respective fields. Honorees included Yvonne Chan, principal at Vaughn Next Century Learning Center; Tianqiao Chen, Chairman and CEO, Shanda Interactive Entertainment; Charles Williamson, Chairman and CEO, Unocal Corporation; and Kwong Yu Wong, Chairman, GOME Electrical
