World Class Resort Makes Fashion Statement: Sea Island Partners With Luxury Apparel Line Peter Milla
SEA ISLAND, SC, June 10, 2005. One of the first high-end resort brands to extend into the apparel business, Sea Island Company has entered a partnership with the luxury apparel line Peter Millar.
Peter Millar, a brand of men's and ladies wear produced from the world's finest fabrics, is known as a benchmark for luxury apparel, and can be found in the best specialty stores and golf shops across the country. Because both the Sea Island and Peter Millar brands speak to discerning traditionalists seeking timeless classics in both apparel and experiences, Sea Island sees the partnership as a "perfect fit."
"In Peter Millar we have found a partner that mirrors the Sea Island lifestyle. Time and again, our guests and members ask for elegant active clothing consistent with the tradition and quality of our brand, and that is clearly Peter Millar's niche," said Eric Schneider, Director of Golf and Retail Operations for Sea Island.
Sea Island Company is home to the renowned Cloister Hotel and The Lodge, a 5-Star, Five Diamond resort and was host site of the 2004 G8 Summit.
"In addition to the growth outlook this brand is perfectly coincident with the growth of our Sea Island brand. The reopening of the Cloister's main building next year will serve as a launching point for the new traditions in our brand," said David Everett, President and COO.
The President and CEO of Peter Millar will be Scott Mahoney, formerly Vice President of Polo Golf and Tennis at Ralph Lauren. He brings an extensive background in the golf and specialty store industry as well as significant experience with brand development. Chris Knott, founding partner of Peter Millar, will continue to design and develop the product and work closely with Scott Mahoney. Greg Oakley and Chet Sikorsky, also founding partners of Peter Millar, will continue in their current roles. Oakley will manage production and Sikorsky will oversee customer service.
A private resort and real estate development company founded in 1928, Sea Island Company today owns and operates The Cloister Hotel, The Lodge at Sea Island, The Lodge at Cabin Bluff, and the private Ocean Forest and Frederica Golf Clubs, all on the southeast Georgia coast.
Sea Island Company's real estate development includes the 600 private home cottage colony on Sea Island, Georgia and several exclusive communities on neighboring St. Simons Island, including new offerings at Frederica, a community that provides privacy, tranquility and the sporting life at its finest.
