View from the other side: Value Place Franchise Services Opens Doors to her own Hotel-Apartment Prop
Tulsa, Okla., property offers clean, safe lodging starting at $159 weekly
WICHITA, KS, December 12, 2005. Today, Value Place Franchise Services President Gina-Lynne Scharoun is doing something few other franchise executives choose to do. She's opening doors to her own franchise property - a Value Place hotel-apartment in Tulsa, Okla., 3415 S. Sheridan Road.
Value Place is a short-term residential hotel-apartment hybrid that offers stays of a week or longer to residents. It plans to be the national low-cost provider of cleaner and safer apartment-style lodging. Lodging industry visionary Jack DeBoer founded the company (www.myvalueplace.com) in 2003.
"When I joined Value Place to run the franchise company, it was easy to see the concept's incredible potential," says Scharoun. "I've worked with Jack DeBoer for almost a decade and know his history of success. It was a logical decision to become a franchisee."
"My personal investment shows franchisees and potential investors that I am as deeply committed to the brand's success as they are," adds Scharoun.
In fact, in just more than one year of offering franchises, Scharoun's team has already signed more than 220 franchise commitments. Within two years, Value Place properties are planned to be open or under construction in more than 23 states.
The Tulsa property - the twelfth Value Place to open nationwide - is centrally located at the intersection of Sheridan Road and Broken Arrow Expressway. Weekly rates for the 121-unit property begin at $159.
Scharoun and her husband, Robert, are majority shareholders in the company, Valued Partners LLC. They are both Oklahoma natives. Valued Partners is a new company formed with a small group of investors to develop the property. Scharoun is managing partner. Robert Scharoun is president. He will oversee operations.
The hotel-apartment property is located at Highway 51 and Sheridan Road and is within a half mile of Interstate 44, offering easy and quick access to both of Tulsa's major east and west highways. The property is about five miles from downtown, The University of Tulsa, and Tulsa International Airport. The Tulsa State fairgrounds and Expo Square are within two miles.
Value Place headquarters are in Wichita, Kan. Eleven other properties are open in Bentonville, Ark., Kansas City, Mo., Lincoln and Omaha Neb., Lubbock, Texas, Myrtle Beach, S.C., Oklahoma City and Wichita. Eight more are under construction.
Company founder Jack DeBoer also founded Residence Inn, Summerfield Suites and Candlewood Suites. He is considered the inventor of the extended-stay hotel concept. In the 1970s, he was the nation's second largest apartment developer.
