Nobu Executive Chef will Star in Icelandic Food Festival
ICELAND, January, 10, 2006. Icelandair can confirm that Nobu Executive Head Chef Mark Edwards will take part in the fifth annual Food and Fun festival in Iceland, 22nd-25th February 2006. Icelandair is the main sponsor of the event.
Nobu London is one of the city's leading restaurants, specialising in authentic Japanese cuisine with South American influences. Edwards oversaw the opening of Nobu London in 1997, Ubon by Nobu in 2000, and most recently directed the opening of Nobu Berkeley.
Food and Fun is a celebration of Icelandic pure ingredients, including lamb and fish, prepared by acclaimed chefs from around the world. Guest chefs from around the world create special menus at the finest restaurants in Reykjavik, available from 22nd February.
The culmination of the festival is the Cooking Competition, held on Saturday 25th, where the international chefs are challenged to create a three course meal - fish, meat and dessert courses - from locally sourced Icelandic fresh ingredients in front of an audience. Admission is free. The winning chef is guest of honour at a Gala Dinner, held that evening at the Nordica Hotel, with a menu created by top Icelandic chefs.
Edwards will design a menu, showcasing fresh Icelandic fish, for Apotek restaurant in the heart of the city. Apotek is one of the latest of a new breed of restaurants in Reykjavik, boasting contemporary global cuisine and beautiful design.
"I'm thrilled to be involved with Food and Fun," said Edwards. "The Cooking Competition will be fun and I am looking forward to designing a menu bursting with flavour using the freshest, local Icelandic ingredients."
