Hyatt Announces Name of Extended-Stay Brand
LOS ANGELES, CA, January 23, 2006. Global Hyatt Corp. has named its upscale extended-stay brand Hyatt Summerfield Suites.
Hyatt, which announced the name during Americas Lodging Investment Summit here, acquired the Summerfield brand in December along with six owned Summerfield Suites properties from affiliates of the Blackstone Group, the Gencom Group, and Lehman Brothers.
The acquisition was seen as another step in Hyatt's evolution to a fully-integrated lodging company. In 2005, Global Hyatt acquired the AmeriSuites brand and proceeded to recast it as an upper-end selective service brand called Hyatt Place.
Analysts had expected Hyatt to include its own name of the extended stay product, but weren't sure if the Summerfield name would survive.
