The Leading Hotels of the World Strengthens Its Presence in Eastern Europe with Three New Members
NEW YORK, NY, February 3, 2006. The Leading Hotels of the World, the largest luxury hospitality brand in the world, has further strengthened its presence in Eastern Europe with the addition of three new members.
Consistently spearheading initiatives in luxury travel and lifestyle, the company early on foresaw the emergence of Eastern Europe as a major region for international travel. More than a decade ago, in 1994, it accepted its first member there, naming Grand Hotel Europe in St. Petersburg, Russia, as a member of the exclusive organization.
Within five years, Leading Hotels opened its regional office in Moscow - which continues to produce impressive levels of business - of both inbound and outbound travelers. Last year alone, the Moscow office produced nearly 30,000 roomnights, and well over USD 17 million in revenue.
The new member hotels are:
Schloessle Hotel, Tallinn, Estonia
At the center of Tallinn's beautiful medieval old town, the 24-room Schloessle Hotel is only steps away from the historic Town Hall Square, and the city's shopping district. Dating from the 15th century, the hotel's massive wood beams and ancient stone walls complement antique furnishings and rich colors to create a luxurious, baronial atmosphere. Guests can savor Estonian fare and gourmet French cuisine in Stenhaus, or relax over cocktails in the Lounge bar. The hotel can accommodate banquets of up to 40 people.
Grand Palace Hotel, Riga, Latvia
Built in 1877 as the State Bank, Grand Palace in Riga is now a sophisticated 56-room luxury hotel. The intimate atmosphere, combining old Russian and European influences, echoes the romantic cultures of the past. Orangerie Restaurant offers continental cuisine; Seasons Restaurant serves fine evening meals; and Pils Bar is ideal for refreshing cockails. For relaxation, the hotel's health facilities are open 24 hours a day. Two conference rooms are available for functions of up to 70 people.
Donbass Palace Hotel, Donetsk, Ukraine
Dating back to 1938, the Donbass Palace Hotel, in Donetsk, Ukraine, was reconstructed in 2004 to its original grandeur. Situated in the center of the city, it is close to the theater, opera house, shopping and business districts. With 129 rooms and suites, the hotel offers guests the finest accommodations in the region. There are three restaurants serving continental, French and multi-ethic Asian cuisine, while DP's Bar and a lobby lounge are relaxing venues for cocktails. In addition to the DIVA Health & Beauty Center, swimming pool and hammam, there are three conference rooms for up to 160 people.
Commenting on the acceptance of these new members, Paul M. McManus, president and chief executive officer of The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd., noted, "Our organization has long been recognized as the leader in luxury travel, with a formidable global presence. Our portfolio of hotels offers guests unparalleled choice of destination and accommodation, from grand palace hotels in world capitals, to private island hideaways. The addition of these new members in the Eastern European region further advances our company's mission to be the preeminent brand in luxury hospitality worldwide."
