Hospitality Law Conference Sells Out to Capacity Crowd
HOUSTON, TX, February 10, 2006. Banks Brown, co-author of the book "Understanding Hospitality Law" and a partner with the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP was awarded the Anthony G. Marshall Award at the 4th Annual Hospitality Law Conference on February 2, 2006.
The award, given in recognition of pioneering and lasting contributions to hospitality law, was first given to Anthony G. Marshall -- a renowned educator, author, speaker and columnist for Hotel & Motel Management Magazine -- at the 2005 conference. Marshall was on hand to award Banks personally at an awards luncheon.
Brown is the head of McDermott Will & Emery's New York office trial department and focuses his practice on representing clients in the hotel and hospitality industries. He is general counsel to the American Hotel & Lodging Association, the Hotel Association of New York City and the Travel Business Roundtable and co-author of "Understanding Hospitality Law," (4th Ed.), a widely used treatise on the legal issues facing the industry.
The two-day conference, held at the InterContinental Hotel Galleria in Houston, Texas, hosted over 250 attendees and featured specialized seminars in the areas of Lodging, Food & Beverage, Gaming, and Loss Prevention and Risk Management. All attendees where also given the opportunity to get current on pressing issues in liability, legislation, immigration and employment.
