Trump Plans Tribeca Condo Hotel
NEW YORK, NY, February 21, 2006. Developer Donald Trump plans to construct a luxury condo hotel in downtown Manhattan near the Holland Tunnel, according to press reports.
The booming Tribeca neighborhood has seen small-scale hotel development along the lines of the Downtown Hotel currently under construction, but nothing on the order of the proposed 50-story Trump project. The Downtown is being developed by the team of Richard Born, Ira Druckier, and the actor Robert DeNiro.
The Trump project would have a mix of full condominium and condo hotel units as well as a high-end restaurant similar to the Trump Hotel & Tower uptown. Celebrity chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten operates the uptown restaurant.
In addition to New York, Trump operates hotels in Atlantic City. A Trump condo hotel is under construction in Chicago and projects are planned for Las Vegas and Toronto. Sonesta Hotels & Resorts also operates a Trump-branded hotel in Sunny Isles, FL.
