IH/M&RS Accepting 2006 Gold Key Awards Entries
Prestigious Awards Recognize Innovation in Hospitality Design
WHITE PLAINS, NY, March 16, 2006. The International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show(R) (IH/M&RS) invites hospitality designers to submit entries for the 26th annual Gold Key Awards for Excellence in Hospitality Design, the premier worldwide competition for designers of lodging and restaurant properties. These prestigious awards are presented in eight categories - Restaurants/Casual Dining, Restaurants/Fine Dining, Lounge/Bar, Best Hotel Design, Guest Rooms, Suites, Lobby/Reception Area and Spa. The entry form will be available online at www.ihmrs.com/goldkey, beginning April 17, 2006, and must be submitted by July 1, 2006.
Gold Key Awards are open to designers of hotels, motels, timeshares, restaurants, clubs, cruise ships, casinos, conference centers, spas and other hospitality facilities. Finalists and grand prize winners will be honored at a breakfast ceremony on Monday, November 13, 2006, at New York City's Mandarin Oriental Hotel, during the 91st annual International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show. In addition, Gold Key Awards sponsors Interior Design and HOTELS magazines will present the "Designer of the Year" Award, and NEWH, the Hospitality Industry Network will present its "Icon of the Industry" distinction.
"The Gold Key Awards continue to be the most coveted honor for hospitality designers, providing recognition for the dramatic and innovative design concepts found in hospitality properties around the world," said Christian Falkenberg, show manager. "With the industry standard rising each year, we're excited to see what will be presented for consideration in 2006."
All entries must represent new design or renovation projects completed between January 1, 2005, and June 1, 2006. Entry fees are $150 for the first project submitted, and $100 for subsequent projects. A panel of prominent designers and lodging industry professionals will serve as competition judges.
The Gold Key Awards Breakfast, which serves as a scholarship fundraiser for NEWH, the Hospitality Industry Network, will take place Monday, November 13, 2006, from 7:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m., at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Tickets are $75.00 each, and will be available online at www.ihmrs.com/goldkey, beginning May 1, 2006.
The 91st annual International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show will run Saturday, November 11, through Tuesday, November 14, 2006, at New York City's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Following a full-day of conference and networking activities on Saturday, November 11, the IH/M&RS will feature three full days of exhibits from Sunday, November 12, through Tuesday, November 14. The market presents some 1,400 hospitality industry suppliers and attracts approximately 35,000 in total trade attendance.
