HSMAI Names the Frank W. Berkman Chapter Award Winners for 2005
MCLEAN, VA, March 27, 2006. Recognizing the "Best-of-the-Best" in chapter practices from 58 entries and 18 chapters, the 26th Annual Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) Frank W. Berkman Chapter Awards Program was presented at the 2006 HSMAI Chapter Leadership Forum held in Orlando, FL. Chapter leaders from around the world including Singapore, Canada, Mexico and the U.S. were in attendance.
"This is the time we get to single out work that is outstanding, creative and noteworthy, while also pay tribute to excellent leadership," stated Fran Brasseux, vice president of membership for HSMAI. "Furthermore, displaying award-winning work provides a resource for all chapters and instills a competitive spirit by challenging chapters to be even more creative and innovative in their programming and initiatives," she added.
The competition (for the 2005 calendar year) awarded winners in nine categories for both large and small chapters: Awards & Recognition, Communications, Customer Interaction, Education, Fundraising/Community Involvement, Leadership Development, Membership Retention & Development, Partnership and Web Site. Honorable mentions were also noted in each category.
Winners were selected in each category based on a "quality" point system determined by the HSMAI "Best-of-the-Best" Advisory Committee and HSMAI Americas Board of Directors. Entries were judged independently by the board of directors from 16 chapters.
In addition to receiving a cash reward and an engraved crystal pillar, first place winners are further recognized by having their winning entries posted in the chapter resource section of the HSMAI's web site as "Best-of-the-Best" Chapter Awards. Second place winners received plaques of recognition.
The awards and dinner were sponsored by American Express.
