. October 14, 2008

TABA HEIGHTS, Egypt, April 4, 2006. Nestled between Egypt's Sinai Mountains and the Red Sea, Taba Heights is one of Egypt's newest and most beautiful resort destinations on this attractive stretch of coastline. Located 19km south of Taba, on the northernmost tip of the Gulf of Aqaba, Taba Heights is delighted to announce the opening of the resort's fifth internationally recognised hotel. The Intercontinental Resort Taba Heights is set to open on 8th April 2006 and will join the Sofitel, Marriott, Hyatt and Three Corners hotel groups already represented in the resort.

Located on the beachfront at the southern end of Taba Heights, the Intercontinental Resort Taba Heights will boast white sandy beaches, turquoise waters and stunning desert scenery. Designed by renowned architect Michael Graves, who also designed the resort's Hyatt Regency hotel, the Intercontinental Resort Taba Heights will offer a total of 503 guest rooms, seven suites and one presidential suite, housed across three buildings; the Pentagon, Atrium and Crescent. The three buildings will be linked via walkways and paths, surrounded by the tropical gardens of the resort. All rooms will offer superb views of either the sea, pool or mountains and will provide in-room facilities, such as: personal safes, mini bar, satellite TV and individually controlled air conditioning.

There are extensive facilities at the hotel which include: 11 international restaurants and bars, a shopping arcade, beauty salon, private and white sand beach, two tennis courts, a squash court, a salt water lake and two swimming pools. In addition, the Intercontinental Resort Taba Heights will provide a spa, featuring a sauna, jacuzzi, steam bath, massage, beauty and facial treatments, an indoor heated pool, aerobics room, fully equipped gym and a juice bar.

Aside from the recreational possibilties, the Intercontinental Resort Taba Heights will also offer amenities for business guests. Offering separate group check-in facilities, it will provide a business centre with a boardroom and two meeting rooms catering for up to 750 guests, complete with outdoor terraces overlooking the Red Sea.

As with the other hotels already operating in Taba Heights, guests staying at the Intercontinental Resort Taba Heights will also have access to the other recreational facilities offered by the wider resort. There are many such activities available and these include: diving, snorkelling, water-skiing, sailing, beach volleyball, camel riding, deep sea fishing, fishing, golf (the 18-hole course is due to open in autumn 2006), wakeboarding, quad biking safaris, hiking, windsurfing, parasailing, canoeing and children's clubs and entertainments.

While the resort's main attraction is its beaches, clear seas and year round sunshine, (average year round temperatures are approximately 27ËšC with less than 14 days' rain per year), its proximity to the Egyptian borders with Israel and Jordan also make it an ideal base for sightseeing excursions. In just a few hours visitors can be at the Great Pyramids in Giza, the Treasury at Petra or the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem.

To ensure further variety, Taba Heights also boasts an impressive selection of international cuisine served at a total of 32 bars and restaurants located around the resort. From Japanese and Far Eastern, to Lebanese and Tandoori, Tuscan and seafood to local specialities, Taba Heights facilitates an exceptional dining extravaganza. Moreover a unique dine-around program allows guests residing on either a full board or half board basis to sample a variety of these cuisines for little or no extra charge.
