Zoning Delay Keeps Sheraton Bal Harbor Open for Summer
WHITE PLAINS, NY, April 5, 2006. The Sheraton Bal Harbour Beach Resort, originally scheduled to close at the end of May to make way for the St. Regis Resort and Residences, Bal Harbour, now will remain open until the end of summer due to a delay in the zoning process necessary to begin the St. Regis project.
Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, Inc. and The Related Group of Florida, the developers of the new St. Regis, determined that continuing operations of the 645-room Sheraton Bal Harbour at 9701 Collins Ave. until the end of summer would provide many benefits to customers and the community, while still maintaining the projected opening of the St. Regis Resort and Residences in 2009. The resort will offer 268 luxury residences, 219 condo-hotel suites and 24 residence club units.
