Ft. Lauderdale Hosts Florida Governor's Hurricane Conference
20TH Annual Meeting May 8 - 12
GREATER FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, May 2, 2006. The 2006 Annual Governor's Hurricane Conference (GHC) will hold its 20th Annual Meeting in Greater Fort Lauderdale at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/ Broward County Convention Center, May 8th - 12th.
In a letter from Governor Jeb Bush he states, "The conference is an example of the daily commitment of state and local governments, businesses, voluntary agencies and the private sector that has made Florida's response system second to none."
. More than 3,000 individuals from the public and private sector with emergency management responsibilities will meet to further their knowledge and discuss future strategies for hurricane planning, response, recovery and mitigation efforts.

Invited speakers include Governor Jeb Bush; Ben Graber, Broward Mayor; Max Mayfield, Director, National Hurricane Center; Craig Fugate, Director, Florida Division of Emergency Management; Frances Fragos Townsend, Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, and others.
