CSR and ISLF Co-host July Asia Conference
MAY 23, 2006. CSR Asia and the International Business Leaders Forum (IBLF) will co-host a conference in July of 2006 in Singapore for leaders in travel, tourism and hospitality industries to address critical social responsibility issues.
This event will gather key stakeholders from around the world to discuss challenges and opportunities in sustainable growth and development, particularly for the Asia Pacific region.
There has been a resurgence in travel and tourism in Asia during recent years. In 2004, the region had achieved growth of 24%, and travel bookings are up by 9% in early 2006 compared to the same period in 2005 (figures from Abacus International). Conference speakers and attendees will seek to address the implications of such growth from social and environmental perspectives.
"This is a critical time for those involved in travel, tourism and hospitality to take a leadership role by demonstrating their commitment to environmentally and socially responsible business policies and actions," said Erin Lyon, Director of CSR Asia in Singapore. "By proving that doing well comes as a result of affecting positive change, we hope to set a standard that will resonate throughout the world."
Keynote speakers for the conference include representatives from Cathay Pacific Airlines, United Nations World Tourism Organisation, Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts and UNICEF. Detailed discussions will be conducted around four key themes: CSR and the Tourism Agenda; Lessons from Industry; Eco-Tourism; and Community Investment.
The conference will be held on July 25-26, 2006 at the InterContinental Hotel in Singapore. For registration and additional information, visit www.csr-asia.com.
