Wayport Reaches Decade Milestone

. October 14, 2008

AUGUST 15, 2006. Wayport is celebrating 10 years of providing network service to premier brands and their customers. Wayport has also now experienced more than 25 million customer connections on its network; with nearly 12 million connections over the past 12 months.

Founded on June 28th, 1996, Wayport's growth in high-speed Internet access (HSIA) deployments and customer usage, open roaming agreements, marketing partnerships and strategic acquisitions have all fueled increasing momentum over the past decade. From these successes, Wayport has introduced new lines of business across several industries, helping innovative companies attract and retain customers, improve operational efficiencies, and offer new business capabilities that support their core business.

Wayport installed its first hotel property, the Austin Four Seasons Hotel, in 1997 and has grown to a portfolio of more than 800 hotels worldwide, supported by the acquisition of two leading providers of high-speed Internet access in Europe. In June of 2006, Wayport announced the availability of private voice over Wi-Fi services at the Mansion at Turtle Creek hotel in Dallas, Texas. Wayport manages the implementation, training and support of the Vocera voice recognition system and other unique wireless applications for the Mansion.

In September, 2001, Wayport helped define and introduce Wi-Fi roaming for the industry by becoming the first provider to offer open Wi-Fi roaming access. Since then, the company has invested substantially in both infrastructure and support services to ensure the highest quality roaming capability and signed open roaming agreements with AT&T, Cingular Wireless, Sprint/Nextel, iPass, Fiberlink, WeRoam, MCI/Verizon, and Boingo. Wayport installed its first all Wi-Fi wireless hotel in 2002. As of June, 2006, more than 25 million paid customer connections have been made on Wayport's network.

In 2004, Wayport and McDonald's(R) USA began a collaborative relationship that has evolved into the creation of a wide range of network services for McDonald's including support for cashless transactions, wireless order taking, security cameras and remote computer based training.

After a Wi-Fi pilot program in San Francisco, McDonald's USA selected Wayport as its nationwide Wi-Fi provider based on outstanding performance in network services, application support and exceptional customer care. To date, more than 7,200 McDonald's restaurants across the U.S. offer Wayport's wireless Wi-Fi Internet access to McDonald's customers, employees and suppliers.

Beginning November 2005, customers with a Nintendo DS TM can log on wirelessly and play their favorite Wi-Fi-enabled games in more than 7,200 McDonald's restaurants in the U.S. that have Wayport-enabled Wi-Fi connectivity. Nintendo's complimentary wireless gaming service, Nintendo (R) Wi-Fi Connection, allows game players to simply launch the game in Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection mode. No set up is required.

On-line game entertainment has been successful with gamers of all ages at McDonald's, furthering McDonald's objective of extending the digital lifestyle into their restaurants and offering a unique, exclusive customer experience to young adults, by providing a convenient, inviting, memorable dining experience in a youthful, energetic way. In May of this year, Wayport, Inc. and McDonald's USA received the 2006 Best Wireless Deployment (Commercial Sector) Award from Wireless Broadband Innovation Awards, Ltd. The WBI Awards recognize leadership, innovation and excellence in wireless broadband and are known as "the Oscars of the wireless industry" (Daily Express, May 2006). In June, Wayport was named on AT&T's annual list of 50 top suppliers recognized for outstanding performance and service to AT&T in 2005-2006. The AT&T Supplier Recognition Program awards AT&T's top suppliers, selected out of more than 5,000 vendors, for their work in creative cost-management solutions, customer service, product and service performance, supplier diversity, teamwork, and technical innovation.

"Wayport collaborates with innovative companies to bring together network services, technology, and application support that creates increased customer lifetime value, improved operational efficiencies and new business capabilities for those companies," said Dave Vucina, CEO of Wayport. "As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, we extend a special thanks to our customers, partners, investors and employees for their support and their contributions to the accelerated growth and success of the company over the past ten years."
