CH&LAEF Recognizes Donations From Handlery Foundation and Don Johnson, CHA
JUNE 17, 2009 - The California Hotel & Lodging Association Education Foundation (CH&LAEF) recently received $5,000 donations from two long-time supporters, The Handlery Foundation and Don Johnson, CHA.
The Handlery Foundation, lead by Jon Handlery, president of Handlery Hotels, has been an essential backer of the CH&LA Education Foundation and its mission to foster the education of our future hospitality industry leaders. Handlery is a heavily involved member of California Hotel & Lodging Association and currently sits on its board of directors.
Don Johnson, CHA, owner of Vagabond Inns in Palm Springs and Oxnard, sponsors the Kevin Johnson Memorial Scholarship that assists graduating high school seniors that have chosen to pursue a degree in Hospitality Management. Don Johnson is an integral and active member of both the CH&LAEF board of directors as well as the CH&LA and AH&LA board of directors and a long-time industry supporter.
'In the long run, supporting the education of our next generation of hoteliers will benefit us all. We are very appreciative of the Handlery Foundation and Don Johnson's support of CH&LA's Education Foundation.' noted CH&LAEF President Luis Barrios. 'The need for funding, support and mentorship among hospitality students is immense. In order to ensure the future of our industry, we must encourage and nurture our students today.'
Hundreds of students and lodging industry employees have benefited from the generosity of these donors and CH&LAEF thanks them for their commitment and encourages others in supporting the future of our industry.
