Ramada Plaza Hotel Sold to Fine Hospitality
JUNE 18, 2009 - The Ramada Plaza Hotel in Fond du Lac, WI has been sold to Fine Hospitality Group, a California firm. Milmark Hotel/Motel Investments, a member of Hotel Brokers International, handled the transaction. The Sellers, CPRS Properties, LLP and One North Main, Inc., headed by Fond du Lac resident Ron Schmitz, acquired this historic landmark in May, 2003.
The 132 room hotel, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Properties, is the most popular facility in the area for weddings due to the renowned Crystal Ballroom. Conventions, conferences, meetings, and family gatherings are regularly scheduled in the ornate banquet rooms.
The first floor restaurant and lounge have long been popular dining and entertainment venues. The Ramada Fitness Center offers a large pool, whirlpool, sauna, weight room, and cardiovascular equipment to the hotel guests and the public. Fine Hospitality Group does plan to upgrade the fitness center to deliver even a more quality experience.
Fine Hospitality currently has properties primarily in the Southwestern United States. The firm is planning expansion in the Midwest and feels the Ramada Plaza is an excellent property to acquire in the Midwestern market. Fine Hospitality Group plans to significantly upgrade the property, and will be implementing innovative ideas for the restaurant, lounge, and meeting facilities. Schmitz said, "I selected Fine Hospitality Group as the successful purchaser because they are committed to delivering a quality hospitality product with a high degree of personal service. They also have the resources and experience to take our hotel to the next level for the benefit of our guests and the entire Fond du Lac area." Both parties agree that the Ramada Plaza will continue to be an integral asset to the community.
