Hullett House - A Celebration of Hong Kong's Heritage
SEPTEMBER 14, 2009 - Set to become one of the city's top destinations when it launches in early autumn 2009, Hullett House will be a celebration of Hong Kong's past showcased within some of its most stunning heritage architecture.
Hullett House consists of a design-led intimate heritage hotel, five restaurants and bars, a souvenir store and a performance area specially created as a venue for traditional festivals and celebrations. The creative vision of David Yeo, founder of the aqua restaurant group, Hullett House will be brought to life within one of the four oldest government buildings in Hong Kong, the historical former Marine Police Headquarters' in Tsim Sha Tsui.
Yeo comments; "Hong Kong's heritage is not widely celebrated yet we have such a rich and diverse culture and many unique traditions. Hullett House is "by Hong Kong. For Hong Kong... We give you old Hong Kong."
The design-led intimate heritage hotel will have all the modern and technical in-room facilities of a contemporary hotel. Suites will be spacious and range in size from 600 to 800 sq ft, with each opening to a private balcony, replete with wonderful views of the Hong Kong cityscape and Victoria Harbour.
The room d'ecor of each suite has been influenced by a period of time in the history of Hong Kong and includes references from imperial China in the 1870's, through to the English countryside and the contemporary vigour of Chinese pop art.
The five restaurants and bars of Hullett House will bear strikingly diverse identities whilst offering something for everybody whether that's a cup of tea, a light snack or a fine dining experience. The offerings will vary from venue to venue with the help of a cutting edge team of International and local chefs and skilled culinary artisans. Dining experiences will include contemporary European dining, an old British-style pub with its own jail cells, and a gourmet Cantonese restaurant; all of which seek to conjure up memories of days gone by.
Also included within the Hullett House establishment will be the Souvenir Store, selling a variety of bespoke Hong Kong keepsakes and traditional Cantonese treats and designer amenities from the Hullett House hotel.
Hullett House's celebration of old Hong Kong sensibilities and its array of dining options, drinking havens and distinctive luxury suites are to become a landmark destination in the city.
