SALT LAKE CITY, September 16, 2009 - Travelers have new online tools to help them plan their next vacation to Utah. The Utah Office of Tourism has relaunched its Utah.travel Web site to include more content and links to social media streams in an effort to make it more interactive.

"Visitors to the site will now have more information on Utah's destinations and events than ever before that can be accessed from a computer or mobile device," said Leigh von der Esch, Managing Director of the Utah Office of Tourism, an agency of the Governor's Office of Economic Development (GOED). "Travelers today are looking for more online vacation information for trip planning."

"The expansion of Utah's Web services are a part of an ongoing improvement of both the Business and Tourism Web sites so that a traveler who visits Utah will get the information needed for a high quality experience," said Derek Miller, GOED Acting Executive Director.

Features of the updated site include:

---| Expanded content offerings to site visitors, including more images, maps, weather information, and news

---| Social Media streams such as Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, and YouTube

---| New blog featuring local attractions

---| More search engine friendly

---| Access for mobile devices

---| Expanded content management tools

Other features available on Utah.travel include an Adventure Planner, which allows users to put together their trips using a database of information compiled from the Utah Travel Guide, which can also be found on the site. The Web site was developed by Struck in Salt Lake City, the advertising agency contracted by GOED to create both the Business and Tourism sites, as well as the state's "Life Elevated" brand. The Business site can be found at http://business.utah.gov/.
