Michelle Lacewell Chosen as Notable 'Nole
Resort Collection Marketing Director Receives FSU Honor
Panama City Beach, Fl - Florida State University Panama City has selected Michelle Lacewell, marketing director for The Resort Collection of Panama City Beach, as one of three Notable 'Noles for 2009. This enviable distinction has been awarded to outstanding alumni of FSU Panama City who represent the “strength, skill, and character” values of FSU Panama City since 1996. FSU Panama City bestowed Lacewell and the other Notable 'Noles, Susan Butler, Ph.D. and Janice Strickland-Salares, with this honor at the annual Alumni Homecoming Reception held on October 27 in the school's Holley Academic Center. On October 30, the Notable 'Noles participated in the torch lighting ceremony and kickoff of the Torch Run at 'Nole Fest along the bay at FSU Panama City campus.
Each fall, a committee made of alumni, staff, and faculty at FSU Panama City selects Notable 'Noles based on their excellence and dedication as FSU students, their community involvement, and professional accomplishments. Lacewell, who earned her master's degree in corporate and public communication from FSU Panama City in 2007, has continued to excel in her career and contribute to her community. As marketing director for The Resort Collection of Panama City Beach, Lacewell oversees all marketing and public relations efforts for the company.
“The master's program at FSU Panama City helped me to better understand my role as a communications professional. The relationships I developed with classmates have become invaluable professional friendships,” said Lacewell. “I am honored to receive such a distinguished recognition from my alma mater.”
Lacewell's exceptional level of commitment to community service has greatly contributed to her qualifications as a Notable 'Nole. As an adjunct instructor for Gulf Coast Community College, Lacewell gives back to the education system and students in her community. Lacewell also serves on the Communications Committee for the United Way of Northwest Florida and as a past board member for the Florida Public Relations Association. She is a former board member for the American Advertising Federation of Panama City and she has been heavily involved with the Junior Service League (JSL) of Bay County for the last three years. Lacewell is currently serving as the 2010 Admissions Chair for the JSL and Public Relations chair of their annual Holly Fair.
“I think Michelle is an excellent nominee to be considered as a Notable 'Nole because of the dedication and pride that she exhibits towards Bay County,” said Samantha Harlander, vice president of communication for Bay County Chamber of Commerce. “She has taken what she has learned as a student at Florida State University Panama City and used it to help Bay County grow and develop.”
