Glenwood Hot Springs President Hank Bosco Named to Colorado Business Hall of Fame
Glenwood Springs, CO (January 7, 2010) - There's no slowing down Glenwood Hot Springs President, Henry “Hank” Bosco; at 87 he continues to set milestones in the business arena. His latest achievement is being named to the Colorado Business Hall of Fame by the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce and Junior Achievement. Bosco, along with three other individuals and a family, will be honored at an induction ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Denver at the Colorado Convention Center on February 4, 2010.
A Glenwood Springs native, Bosco grew up in the hotel/hospitality industry. His father owned and operated the Hotel Denver. It was there that Bosco learned the importance of an amicable disposition and an easy smile, characteristics that certainly aided in his future success in the hospitality and tourism industries.
“Hank Bosco has been an influential leader not only at the Glenwood Hot Springs where his vision helped to shape what the property has become today, but he was and continues to be a tremendous civic leader lending his knowledge, time and influence to many causes,” said Kjell Mitchell, General Manager and COO for the Glenwood Hot Springs.
Among his many distinctions, Bosco served as a Glenwood Springs City Councilman for 8 years. He was a founder in the Valley View Hospital Association which today employs approximately 700 people. Bosco is also a founding supporter of Youth Zone, an organization that provides support and counseling for troubled teens. In August, 2009, he was named to the Italian-American Hall of Fame and in 2006 he was honored as Citizen of the Year by the Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association which later established the Bosco Tourism Business of the Year award, an annual award that recognizes the Bosco family and their contribution to tourism over the years in Glenwood Springs.
But Bosco is probably best known for his long tenure at the helm of the Glenwood Hot Springs. Today, he retains the title of Glenwood Hot Springs President and is usually found working in his office or offering jokes and smiles around the property to both guests and employees. br> Colorado Business Hall of Fame inductees joining Bosco include the Gart brothers, Nathan, Melvin, Jerry and Mickey Gart, founders of the Colorado sporting goods empire; James B. Wallace, a pioneer in the oil and gas industry; Merle Chambers, a female front-runner in the oil and gas industry; and Frederic Hamilton, an oil-man turned arts activist. “These individuals are shining examples of the entrepreneurial spirit and dedication required to become a successful business leader in Colorado,” said Chuck Ward, chairman of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce's Board of Directors and president of Qwest-Colorado. “The example they have set will undoubtedly be modeled by generations to come.”
Now in its 21st year, the Colorado Business Hall of Fame pays tribute to Colorado's most distinguished business leaders from the past and present, publicizes the contributions of business leaders, and promotes the importance and value of the free enterprise system. The laureates are selected for their enduring and innovative professional contributions to Colorado, as well as the inspirational and ethical manner in which they have conducted their business. The 2010 laureates join more than 100 previous honorees. In addition to reflecting upon the accomplished professional lives of these individuals, the Hall of Fame honors their significant philanthropic contributions to civic and community organizations.
