ALIS Awards Finalists Announced

WASHINGTON, DC, January 16, 2007. The 2006 ALIS Awards finalists have been announced, with the winners to be unveiled during a luncheon on January 23, 2007, at the Americas Lodging Investment Summit (ALIS), Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles, Calif. The ALIS Awards are presented for outstanding performance: Jack A. Shaffer Financial Advisor, Merger & Acquisition, Single Asset Transaction, and Development of the Year. ALIS is co-hosted by the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) and Burba Hotel Network (BHN).

The following is a list of finalists for each category:

---|Jack A. Shaffer Financial Advisor of the Year 2006

---|Jeffrey Horowitz, co-head global real estate and lodging investment banking, Merrill Lynch & Co.

--Devin Murphy, global head of real estate investment banking, Deutsche Bank

--Larry Wolfe, managing director, Eastdil Secured

Merger & Acquisition of the Year 2006

---|Nova Scotia Ltd., acquires Fairmont Hotels & Resorts for $3.7 billion

---|Hilton Hotels Corp., acquires Hilton International for $5.7 billion

---|Host Marriott Inc., acquires 33 hotels from Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide for $4.1 billion

Single Asset Transaction of the Year 2006

---|MSD Capital and Rockpoint Group purchase of the 243-room Four Seasons Hualalai Resort and additional real estate opportunities in Kona, HI for $540 million from Kajima Corporation.

---|BentleyForbes Hospitality Group purchase of the 397-room Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas and additional real estate opportunities in Irving, TX for $230 million.

---|Strategic Hotels & Resorts, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, and KSL Resorts purchase of the 679-room Hotel del Coronado and additional real estate opportunities in San Diego, Calif. for $745 million from CNL Hotels & Resorts, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, and KSL Resorts.

Development of the Year 2006

---|The Embassy Suites Hotel in Honolulu, HI, a 219-room property, was the first hotel to open as part of a four city block redevelopment project called Waikiki Beach Walk. The $535 million project is being developed by Outrigger Enterprises Group of Honolulu.

---|The French Lick Hotel & Casino in French Lick, Ind., a 443-room property, was developed by Lauth Development of Indianapolis and the Cook Group of Bloomington, Ind., at a cost of $382 million.

---|The InterContinental Hotel in Boston, Mass., a 424-room property with 130 condominiums, was developed by EXTELL Development of New York City at a cost of $310 million.

In addition, John Q. Hammons, founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts, LLC, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.
