R.D. Olson Construction Completes New Ventura County Hotel

IRVINE, CA - August 9, 2010 - R.D. Olson Construction, a premiere hotel building and renovation firm, has completed the Homewood Suites by Hilton Oxnard at 1950 Solar Dr. in Oxnard. The Irvine-based construction company was on the fast track to complete and open the project in 11 months and at a record $106 per square foot.

“Our job extends well beyond providing quality workmanship,” said Robert Olson, CEO/president, R.D. Olson Construction. “Often we are asked to complete projects ahead of the usual time required and, during these times, at lower-than-usual costs. This helps us stay competitive and retain a large number of repeat customers.”

The hotel's owner, T.M. Mian of Dallas, is one of them. In fact, several years ago, R.D. Olson built for the hotelier the adjacent Hilton Garden Inn.

The interior of the Oxnard hotel is a break from the standard Homewood Suites brand. The hotel houses 129 guest suites, including eight two-bedroom suites featuring spas and electric fireplaces in the master bedroom, and Whirlpool tubs in the second bedroom. All guest suites have been upgraded from tile to wood flooring in the kitchen areas and from fiberglass to tile tub surrounds and showers. Accent wallpaper throughout the suites adds a spark of sophistication. Each has a living area and kitchen, and is fitted with big screen televisions, DVD players and Internet connection.

A separate oversized lodge building connected by an enclosed breezeway is another distinguishing amenity of this particular Homewood Suites. Here, meetings may be conducted without the sound transmitting throughout the hotel.

The courtyard also flourishes with ambiance. Its spa, barbecue, pool, sports court and seating area are artfully set within a large well-landscaped area, enhanced by a wood trellis for shading. RYS Architects of San Francisco designed the project.

R.D. Olson Construction was founded in 1979. It has grown into one of the top general contracting firms in California, building such establishments as Marriott Newport Coast Villas, Newport Beach; Ojai Valley Inn & Spa Resort; and four Marriott Residence Inns in Long Beach, Burbank, Oceanside, and Irvine. Renovations include the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza, Los Angeles; Ritz Carlton Spa, Marina del Rey; and Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills.
