Hyatt Carmel Highlands Kicks Off Big Sur Food & Wine Festival

Executive Chef Matt Bolton and Other Top Monterey Peninsula Culinary Talents Pair Cuisine with Acclaimed Wines

CARMEL, CA - October 26, 2010 - Hyatt Carmel Highlands will host the opening night gala - Gateway to Big Sur - for the 2nd annual Big Sur Food & Wine Festival on Thursday, November 4, 2010. Held in the Fireside Lounge and Lobos Lounge of the historic Hyatt Carmel Highlands, the spectacular kickoff event will feature over 20 acclaimed wineries and 10 celebrated chefs from the Central Coast, including Hyatt Carmel Highlands' rising star Executive Chef Matt Bolton.

The Gateway to Big Sur event will begin at 6:00 p.m. and will present an unforgettable opportunity to mix and mingle while sampling labels from exceptional wineries including Au Bon Climat, Bernardus, Bonny Doon, and Talbott. The area's most talented chefs, including Chef Cal Stamenov of Bernardus, Chef Domingo Santamaria of Deetjens Inn, and Chef Michael Woods of Treebones, will join Hyatt Carmel Highlands Executive Chef Matt Bolton to present exquisite cuisine to pair with the wines.

Hyatt Carmel Highlands invites guests to stay through the weekend with preferred rates starting at $479/night for Thursday evening, and $509/night from Friday - Sunday for a Standard Ocean View King room. Additionally, the festival will be supplying complimentary shuttles between Big Sur and Hyatt Carmel Highlands on Thursday evening before and after the event.

The Big Sur Food & Wine Festival continues November 4 - 7 with many incredible dining opportunities and events along the coast of Big Sur, including three Panel Tastings, Fall Harvest Cooking Demonstrations and Winemaker Dinners.
