Two RTKL Hotel Projects Win 2010 Excellence in Construction Awards
Loews Hotel Projects Voted 'Best of the Best' in Central Florida
January 31, 2011 - The Central Florida Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) has honored two RTKL hospitality projects, Loews Miami Beach and the Loews St. Moritz tower, with the organization's highest recognition for excellence in design and construction: the Eagle Award.
As part of the Excellence in Construction Awards, the Eagle Award recognizes exceptional construction projects based on a variety of factors including execution of design, craftsmanship, attention to detail, proper installation, evidence of extraordinary effort and owner satisfaction.
Located in South Florida's fashionable Art Deco District, the 800-room Loews Miami Beach Hotel combines its striking waterfront location with world-class amenities to create an urban retreat in the busy city of Miami.
The project's new design scheme features a tropical motif that utilizes soft, citrus hues, modern furniture and other ocean-related design details. Spa-inspired bathrooms with marble walls, frameless glass showers, and decorative mosaic tiles function as inviting spaces for guests to seek respite. Each guest room is enhanced with the latest technology, responding to the expectations of today's discerning traveller.
Originally built in 1939, the Loews St. Moritz tower is a 100-room historic landmark hotel located adjacent to the Loews Miami Beach Hotel. As with the Miami Beach Hotel, the St. Moritz concept complements the beauty of the hotel's beachfront location, captures the historic Art Deco influences of the property's colorful South Beach history, and functions as an inviting space for guests.
Tatro Construction Co., LLC was the contractor for both projects and the recipient of the awards.
In addition to Loews Miami Beach and the St. Moritz, RTKL also oversaw the design for the renovation of Loews Don Cesar Beach Resort, a luxury four-diamond beachfront hotel in St. Pete Beach, Florida.
