Mumford Company Brokers Five Hotel Transactions During May

Including the Howard Johnson and Quality Inn hotels of Hampton, Virginia

Newport News, VA - June 7, 2011 - The Mumford Company was pleased to represent the court appointed Receiver in the recent sale of the Howard Johnson and Quality Inn hotels of Hampton, Virginia to Peninsula Hospitality, LLC. David Mumford, President of Mumford Company, represented the Receiver in this transaction.

These two hotels encompass almost 450 guest rooms, extensive public facilities and are situated on over 14 acres of land at the intersection of Interstate 64 and U.S. Route 258. This prime location on the Virginia Peninsula is proximate to numerous demand generators including the Hampton Coliseum, the Hampton Roads Convention Center, Hampton Town Center, Hampton University and Langley Air Force Base.

The new ownership group plans to make cosmetic renovations to both hotels and work towards building the respective businesses back to their prior levels. The new ownership group is also exploring the possibilities for future redevelopment of portions of the site, but they are currently in the very preliminary stages of this process.
