Angsana Laguna Phuket Appoints Team for Flagship Property
July 20, 2011 - Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts has appointed three associates to join Angsana Laguna Phuket, the flagship property of sister brand Angsana Hotels & Resorts, set to open on December 1, 2011. This team was handpicked to uphold the exceptional service standards that are synonymous with the two award-winning brands.
The team will consist of Jerry John as General Manager, Ed Diluca as Resident Manager and Luhu Winarno as Executive Assistant Manager, Rooms. Together, this top-notch group has more than 16 years of experience managing some of the top Banyan Tree properties around the world.
Angsana Laguna Phuket, Asia's first integrated resort, will be the fourth hotel in Thailand that is managed and operated by the Banyan Tree group. Set in Bang Tao Bay, Angsana Laguna Phuket will offer a destination beach club which will introduce new features such as the two-story Kids' Club inspired by a tree house, as well as exciting new culinary options developed by the in-house chefs. Other new features include an Angsana Spa, an Angsana retail gallery, extensive meeting space, and a 3,850 square foot ballroom. When completed, Angsana Laguna Phuket will be the top choice resort for affluent and discerning travelers looking for a stylish and vibrant holiday experience.
Leading the hotel as General Manager is Jerry John, who has 25 years of hospitality experience under his belt. Prior to Angsana Laguna Phuket, Mr. John oversaw operations of the award-winning Banyan Tree Phuket as Hotel Manager. Ed Diluca was an integral part of the opening team at Banyan Tree Mayakoba in Mexico, and directed the food and beverage function there for two years. Executive Assistant Manager, Rooms, Luhu Winarno, has been with Banyan Tree since 1999 and was most recently Hotel Manager, Banyan Tree Ringha in China.
“What differentiates us is that, while we hail from diverse backgrounds, we are familiar with the ethos of Banyan Tree and understand what guests expect from a premier brand,” said Mr. John. “This gives us an edge in offering a consistent quality experience with distinct Angsana brand elements - contemporary and chic.”
Arthur Kiong, Managing Director, Hotel Operations - Asia Pacific & Senior Vice President, Group Marketing Services, Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts said, “We chose the team for Angsana Laguna Phuket based on their track record and creativity. The newly assembled team is entrusted with the creation of something new and stylish - an 'it' resort that will define and showcase the identity of the Angsana brand in the future, setting new benchmarks for 15 more Angsanas in the pipeline for the group.”
Angsana Laguna Phuket, which occupies the site of the former Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket, is currently undergoing extensive renovation and refurbishment. Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts took over the operations of the Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket from Starwood Hotels & Resorts when the current management contract expired on June 30th, 2011.
