Dubai Appeals to Norway, Finland Tourists
FEBRUARY 1, 2007. The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has managed to generate wider interest among the prospective tourists and travel trade professionals through two major trade exhibitions in Norway and Finland.
The DTCM Manager Overseas Promotions, Mr. Khalifa Ali Buamaim, said the visitors to the Dubai Stand at both the influential shows were keen on getting themselves aware about the different facets of Dubai and the facilities that make the emirate a sought-after year-round business and leisure destination. The department participated in the Norwegian International Travel and Tourism Fair (Reiseliv) for the 14 successive years.
This year, Dubai Stand measured 30 square metres and the six co-participants were Dubai Marine Beach Resort & Spa, Al Kazemi Tours, Arabian Explorers, Knight Tours, Emirates and Bin Majid Tours. Reiseliv's 21st edition took place from January 11 to 14 in Oslo.
At the 20th edition of Finnish International Travel and Tourism Fair (MATKA-2007) in Helsinki, Dubai Stand was the cynosure of all the visitors.
Measuring 28 square metres and shared by five co-participants, Dubai Stand created huge interest in the destination through travel trade networking and face-to-face contacts with the visitors.
This was Dubai's 17th successive year participation in this biggest show in Nordic region in terms of visitor numbers. The five co-participants were Grosvenor House, Alpha Tours, Arabian Explorers, Emirates Airline and Sheraton Jumeirah Beach Resort and Towers Dubai. It was held from January 18 to 21.
Dubai has been recording year-on-year increase in the number of visitors from both Norway and Finland. The DTCM Overseas Representation Office for the Nordic Countries has been playing a crucial role in further promoting the emirate.
