Denver, CO - September 14, 2011 - Stonebridge Companies, a well-known Denver-based hotel ownership, operations and development company, recently partnered with the Denver Office of Economic Development (OED) to sponsor eight youth interns in the Bridges to Work program. Stonebridge Companies supported the program with a financial pledge for each participating student, along with onsite training facilitated by staff at the company's hotels and corporate office. The Bridges to Work program offers skills training and career exploration for youth ages 16 to 21, while providing employers with opportunities to build bench strength and to develop future leadership.
"The Bridges to Work program enabled Stonebridge Companies to make great connections with today's youth, providing us an opportunity to continue to build and sustain a pipeline of future talent," said Navin Dimond, president and chief executive officer of Stonebridge Companies. "The program was well-organized and conducive to introducing students to the hospitality industry."
Stonebridge Companies selected six of its Colorado-based hotels and its corporate office to host the interns for the six-week, 160-hour program. The interns rotated through several departments, learning first-hand about the hospitality industry from general managers and department managers.
Select interns will maintain their relationship with Stonebridge Companies through ongoing employment, while others will return to school. Each participating Bridges to Work intern obtained valuable workforce readiness skills and on-the-job training in the hospitality industry through this dynamic work-based mentoring program.
