March 1, 2012 - Nowhere do children feel more important than when they stay at one of the award-winning Red Carnation Hotels in South Africa. The younger set is number one at the luxurious Oyster Box Hotel in Umhlanga, the fabulous The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa in Cape Town, and Koro Lodge at Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve & Wellness Retreat in the Cederberg Mountains. With a host of thoughtful touches, children are made to feel important and right at home, from the moment they wake up ready to go to the time they reluctantly go to bed.

On check-in at The Oyster Box , all children 16 years and under are given a backpack with a selection of kids essential holiday items. In addition, each child is given a wrist-band that entitles them to a host of complimentary goodies during their stay. Children under 12 stay free (subject to room category), and all youngsters have access to the supervised Holiday Club during their stay. The children's playroom offers a range of games, activities and facilities, including use of the X-Box, Play Station, DVD's and board games. Activities include story-telling, face painting, arts and crafts, and special screenings in the in-house movie theatre. Special programs are offered during holidays.

The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa offers a Children's Program during Christmas and New Year's. Daily fun activities are organized and coordinated and include a gentle hike up the mountain, a trip to Cape Point, a visit to Spier Wine Estate to see the Cheetahs, walking with Penguins at Boulders Beach and more. The Lions Head Room is filled with a wide selection of games and craft activities, and child-friendly movies are shown in the in-house movie theatre.

And the fun doesn't end there! A special child-oriented turn-down treat is placed on each pillow at bed-time, along with a child-sized bathrobe. Oh . . . let's not forget the milk and cookies, complimentary popcorn, sweets and soft drinks, and use of the extensive DVD library for in-room viewing, at both hotels.

Menu items such as chocolate milk and baby food are included in the breakfast buffet and kid-friendly menus are available in the restaurants. Car seats are provided for transfers to various sites and shopping centers, for children accompanied by their parents. The Concierge will gladly arrange child-oriented tours and recommend places of interest to keep children entertained and happy throughout their stay.

At Bushmans Kloof , Koro Lodge is a fun and practically furnished family living space with two master bedrooms, each with an en suite bathroom, accommodating two teenagers or adults; and a loft area that accommodates four children. Independent of the main villa, Koro Lodge is fully equipped for entertaining with a flat screen TV, games, DVD's, independent cable channels, under-floor heating and air conditioning. The lodge is completely private and includes the services of its own Chef and Guide during your family getaway. A special fun-fulfilled program is offered to entertain children of all ages. In addition, there are exciting outdoor family or group activities including mountain biking, canoeing (equipped with life jackets), hiking, star gazing, and swimming.
