St. Kitts Makes a Splash in New York

. October 14, 2008

MARCH 2, 2007. Representatives of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority have offered a tempting glimpse into the scenic natural beauty, rich heritage and genuinely welcoming people of the destination through their participation in The New York Times Travel Show.

St. Kitts was an exhibitor at The New York Times Travel Show held at the Jacob Javits Convention Center. Numerous show attendees visited the St. Kitts booth, where representatives of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority provided a first-hand example of friendly, authentic Kittitian hospitality, offered useful information and answered questions about the island.

The booth was distinguished by a large 8-foot by 3-foot white banner bearing the destination's official new logo, recognizable by the red Poinciana flower and invitation to explore, love, feel and remember.

The St. Kitts booth was truly a center of attention at the Show. A 42-inch plasma TV showed eye-catching footage of the island while the entertainment continued with performances at the booth and on stage by St. Kitts' masquerade troupe on Saturday and St. Kitts' steel band on Sunday.

A raffle drawing to win a Grand Prize trip for two to St. Kitts was another part of the daily excitement, as were tastings of Brinley Gold Rum and the island's signature sugar cakes. Brochures and other materials were given to attendees to take home, so learning more about St. Kitts didn't end when the show did!

The New York Times Travel Show is the largest travel trade and consumer show in the United States, hosting over 26,000 attendees and 400 exhibitors in 2006. Now in its fourth year, the Show offers opportunities for special travel discounts from leading airlines, cruise lines, resorts and tourism boards from around the world.
