Grand Hyatt New York's Mark Pardue accepts Good Scout Award

. June 19, 2014

NEW YORK (June 18, 2014) - Grand Hyatt New York's General Manager, Mark Pardue, recently accepted the Good Scout Award from the Boy Scouts of America Greater New York Council, a non-profit organization serving youth and families to develop youth leaders through value-based experiences. After dressing Pardue in their traditional uniform, the scouts themselves presented him with the award at the 2014 Hospitality Industry's 31st Annual “Good Scout” Award Luncheon at Grand Hyatt New York. With over 150 people in the hospitality industry in attendance, the luncheon was held to benefit local scouts. Pardue was introduced by Jerry Lewin, Senior Vice President, Northeast Field Operations, Hyatt Hotels Corporation, who hailed him as, “one of the best role models these boys could have.”

Individuals rewarded are those who have made outstanding contributions to their community, are highly regarded among their peers, and are known to exemplify the values of Scouts Law, which include being trustworthy, loyal, courteous and kind.

“The 'Good Scout' Award recipients are chosen for their outstanding leadership as evidenced by the esteem and respect in which they are held by their industry colleagues and Mark Pardue fit the criteria perfectly. A fierce community advocate, Mark is highly respected by his staff, colleagues and fellow hospitality industry insiders and he has helped raise much needed funds for the NYC Scouting program, supporting over 46,000 at need youth. Mark is absolutely deserving of this esteemed award, as he truly personifies all the qualities of a “Good Scout,” said Ethan Draddy, Scout Executive and Chief Executive Officer of Greater New York Councils, Boy Scouts of America.

“It is an honor to receive this award from such an important community partner,” said Pardue. “This award and this event is integral to our ability to raise much needed funds to support our New York City Scouts.” Pardue added, “It is very humbling for me personally. But this award really belongs to Hyatt and all of our associates. It is reassuring to see our continual efforts to support youth and education in our community paying off.”

Hyatt has a long standing tradition of supporting the communities in which they operate through the Hyatt Thrive Community Outreach Program. Hyatt Thrive is designed to help make the communities places where Hyatt associates are proud to work, guests want to visit, neighbors want to live and owners want to invest. It reflects Hyatt's belief that no one better understands a community's most pressing issues - and their solutions - than those who live and work there.

Dedicated to Hyatt Hotels & Resorts for more than 22 years, Pardue is no stranger to New York having had positions as General Manager at the former Stanhope Park Hyatt New York on Manhattan's Upper East Side and Hyatt Regency Wind Watch in Hauppauge, New York. As General Manager of Grand Hyatt New York, Pardue manages all aspects of the 1,301 guestrooms and suites, the property's on-site restaurant and lounge, New York Central, as well as the meetings & event spaces. Pardue joined Grand Hyatt New York in 2010 after a successful four-year tenure as General Manager of Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino.
