WATG Designs New JW Marriott Hotel Beijing

. October 14, 2008

JANUARY 30, 2008. WATG was the design architect for the new JW Marriott Hotel Beijing, a contemporary 588-room hotel, which recently opened in the central business district at China Central Place.

The design challenge was to create an avant-garde hotel with spaces that appeal to a young generation of travelers. WATG was commissioned to design the JW Marriott Hotel Beijing as part of a large mixed-use destination that includes hotels, retail and office buildings.

"The hotel helps anchor China Center Place as an inwardly focused, urban enclave," said Deborah Rosenblum, managing director of WATG's Honolulu office and the lead project manager on the JW Marriott Hotel Beijing. "Whereas the rest of Beijing tends to be more oriented outwardly to the street, this hotel is part of an urban destination that has a pedestrian focus and a great outdoor space."

The hotel consists of an executive lounge, business center, 1,800 square meters of adaptable meeting and function space, and a 1,294-square-meter ballroom. Also included in the hotel are three restaurants and a spa.

Over the course of the last six decades, WATG has become the world's leading design consultant for the hospitality, leisure and entertainment industries. Having worked in 157 countries and territories across six continents, WATG has designed hotels and resorts from its offices in Honolulu, Orlando, Irvine, Seattle, Singapore, and London.
