Tru by Hilton Rockwall Dallas Celebrates Grand Opening

USA, Germantown, Tennessee. November 12, 2020

The TRU by Hilton in Rockwall, Dallas today celebrated its official Grand Opening. The Co-owners of the new hotel, Bill Margaritis and McNeill Hotel Company, announced that the McNeill Hotel Company will oversee all management and operations of the new hotel.

Rockwall, TX, is a fast growing suburb along the I-30 Corridor of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, with a population of nearly 40,000 people. The 98-room hotel is within walking distance to Lake Ray Hubbard, and the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital. Nearby attractions include a Bass Pro Shop, the newly developed Harbor District of shops, restaurants, and a movie theatre.

"We are extremely proud to bring this revolutionary Hilton brand with cross-generational appeal to this area, and to be working with McNeill Hotel Company. Our mobile check-in and Digital Key promote today's contactless services, and the Hilton CleanStay program will make for a cleaner stay, to help protect both our guests, and our staff," said Margaritis.

"We have a valued partnership with the Hilton brand and are pleased to add our first TRU by Hilton to the McNeill portfolio. Rockwall is an outstanding community with strong demographics and a diverse employment base, excellent transportation access, and modern lifestyle and recreational features," said McNeill CEO Phillip H. McNeill, Jr. and President and COO Mark Ricketts.

The project was built on time and on budget by Weiss Builders, a premier construction and engineering company, founded in 1939. The building's exterior facade is wrapped with indigenous stone from Texas, and offers partial views of the lake.

McNeill Hotel Company now owns and manages 26 select service hotels across the Southeast, the Midwest and Mountain West States, with several additional properties in the acquisition and development pipeline. McNeill's track record of exceptional hospitality services is founded on strong industry relationships, outstanding guest services and a commitment to enhancing the quality of life in its host communities. Among its many brand and customer service awards, McNeill is a former recipient of a Hilton Legacy Top Performer Award. In addition, the vast majority (75%) of the select service hotels in its portfolio have earned the prestigious Tripadvisor 2020 Travelers' Choice Best of the Best Award.

Eco-Friendly Practices: Now More Than Ever

One theory about the pandemic states that future viruses are more likely to originate and flourish due to global warming. If true, the urgency to accelerate the adoption of eco-friendly practices is greater than ever. Of course, there are many other reasons to create a sustainable operation, including reduced utility costs, savings on operational costs, healthier and happier guests and employees, and positive publicity, marketing and community goodwill. Many hotels are introducing innovative programs into their operations - from recycling bins in guest rooms to starting a roof top garden. Other hotels are using eco-friendly cleaning products, reusing towels and sheets, sourcing locally grown food, supporting the use of electric vehicles, and permitting guests to refill their reusable water bottles with clean, filtered water. Finally, some hotels are encouraging guests to get involved by making it possible for them to participate in local community clean-up projects. The May issue of the Hotel Business Review will document what some hotels are doing to integrate sustainable practices into their operations and how they are benefiting from them.
