Kimpton Hotel Arras Receives AAA Four Diamond Designation

USA, Asheville, North Carolina. November 19, 2020

Kimpton Hotel Arras, McKibbon Hospitality's boutique, 128-room hotel in the heart of downtown Asheville, announces it has earned the prestigious AAA Four Diamond designation for 2020. Awarded to properties with upscale style and amenities enhanced with the right touch of service, just 6.5 percent of the nearly 27,000 AAA Diamond lodgings have received this designation.

To earn the impressive AAA Four Diamond designation, hotels and restaurants must pass a rigorous in-person evaluation completed by AAA's expert inspectors. After conducting a thorough walk-through of Kimpton Hotel Arras, the AAA inspector was extremely complimentary of the hotel's beautifully designed, modern interior and exterior, as well as its impressive artwork collection, which exclusively features the work of local artists. The hotel associates' friendly demeanor and warm hospitality were also noted as exemplary, adding to the overall guest experience.

According to AAA, Four-Diamond establishments are upscale in all areas and feature accommodations that are progressively more refined and stylish, physical attributes that reflect an obvious enhanced level of quality throughout, and an extensive array of amenities combined with a high degree of hospitality, service, and attention to detail.

"We are beyond pleased to receive AAA Four Diamond designation," said Kimpton Hotel Arras General Manager David McCartney. "This designation recognizes our commitment to excellence, not only through our upscale accommodations, amenities, and design, but also our amazing associates as well - knowledgeable, warm hospitality professionals who are dedicated to serving our guests."

Kimpton Hotel Arras, which recently celebrated its 1-year anniversary, was also presented with the 2021 Top New or Renovated Meeting Site Award by ConventionSouth, the national multimedia resource for planning events held in the South, last month. Joining an elite list of 59 meeting facilities located throughout the Southern United States, this prestigious award recognizes the hotel's superior commitment to providing meeting planners and groups with the top-of-the-line amenities and service they require.

Architecture & Design: Wellness is Key

Like every other facet of hotel operations, architecture and design firms are adapting their work to ensure the safety and well-being of both guests and staff. New ways to bring Wellness into hotel spaces are being explored and these solutions are taking on many forms. Hotel designs are incorporating more open floor plans, open air spaces, high ceilings, outdoor areas and operable walls into their spaces. Guests no longer want to be packed into tight areas. More "biophilic" elements are also being incorporated, offering guests the sense of being outdoors. Another trend is the reimagining of guest rooms to support remote work capabilities. Some hotels are converting empty guest rooms into office spaces, complete with effective lighting and suitable backgrounds for video conferencing. Dedicated Zoom Rooms are also becoming increasingly popular. The main goal is to provide guests with a positive experience in a space that feels safe and comfortable. These are some of the architecture and design subjects that will be covered in the November issue of the Hotel Business Review.
