USA, Alpharetta, Georgia. March 22, 2021

HP Hotels, a full-service third-party hotel management company, announced today that it has added Ed Robison to its executive team to serve as the company's Senior Vice President of Owner Relations and Development. Kerry Ranson, HP Hotels' Chief Development Officer, made the announcement.

In this position, Ed will support many of the growth initiatives of HP by contributing to all aspects of underwriting, including market research and feasibility analysis, creating pro forma hotel projections, and performing return analyses. He will also participate in due diligence efforts to determine the financial viability, profitability and appropriateness of transaction structures. Importantly, Ed will work with HP's investors and owners, both existing and new, to build relationships that provide long term, sustainable growth for HP Hotels.

Ed has more than 35 years of corporate, franchise and property experience in operations, sales, management and development. He comes to HP from Hilton where he spent 14 years, most recently as Senior Director of Owner Support for the Hilton Focused Service and All-Suites brands. They included over 4,800 hotels that were part of the Embassy Suites, Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton, Homewood Suites, Home2 Suites and Tru brands.

"I couldn't be happier to join this team," said Robison. "Being part of HP's strategy to add high-value, quality assets to our management portfolio and continue to deliver superior performance for our owners and investors is something I am very much looking forward to."

Commenting on the addition of Robison to the organization, Ranson said, "Ed is a seasoned, accomplished industry professional, well-respected throughout the hospitality industry and with a strong track record of success. He's an excellent addition to our executive team and we look forward to leveraging his skills and experience as we look to grow by identifying and capitalizing on opportunities that will be present, post-pandemic, as the hospitality industry regains solid footing."

Revenue Management: Monetizing All Offerings

Of all the departments within hotel operations, Revenue Management may have been the hardest hit, due to the pandemic. The logic goes - no revenue, no need for revenue managers - so many industry professionals were furloughed. If business rebounds in 2021, as expected, then hotel management will have to determine when prevailing occupancy levels justify bringing back their revenue management team. Also, the pandemic seems to have exposed some weaknesses in the traditional RevPAR models. There is a growing understanding that it is no longer sufficient to use a "revenue per available room" model; instead, hotels are adopting a TRevPAR model (total revenue per available room). This model recognizes that revenue streams from other departments are just as important as the revenue gained from rooms. As a result, hotels are looking at ways to monetize any and all hotel offerings - from dining outlets and spas to outdoor function spaces and local partnerships. The October issue of the Hotel Business Review will examine these developments and report on how some leading hotels are executing their revenue management strategies.
