Caravelle Hotel Appoints Executive Assistant Manager
Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam
HO CHI MINH CITY, Viet Nam, December 5, 2007. The landmark Caravelle Hotel has appointed a new executive assistant manager.
Juan Costa Ribas, currently the Caravelle's food and beverage director, will take up his new duties on 1 December, just in time for a host of festive seasonal events the hotel has planned.
Before moving to the Caravelle in 2001, Costa Ribas spent five years in food and beverage management at Saigon's New World Hotel. He's also been a cook, barman and front office clerk - experiences that will serve him well in his new post.
"Juan knows how to do every single job in the hotel business, from cleaning a room to organizing a 500-person dinner," said John Gardner, the Caravelle's general manager. "He's been with us for six years and he's familiar with every glass, chair and fork in the Caravelle. When we were looking for a new executive assistant manager, we didn't have to look outside our own door. He was the obvious choice."
A native of Spain, Costa Ribas literally grew up in a hotel, attending to guests at his family's hotel in Ibiza. He has since spent his entire career in the hotel business. With a string of qualifications from the Hotel School of Lausanne and fluency in four languages, he's got an unparalleled skill set. He has worked in hotels the world over, from Geneva to Tirana to Bangkok, and has lived in Ho Chi Minh City since 1996.
"Moving from F & B to management of a hotel of this size is a thrilling step for me," said Costa Ribas. "It's an opportunity to really spread my wings and focus on the development of the hotel as a whole. I can't wait to get started."
