Dream Hotel Group Partners With Royal Investments for Dream Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky

USA, New York City, New York. November 16, 2021

Renowned hotel brand and management company Dream Hotel Group , home to its Dream Hotels, Unscripted Hotels, The Chatwal and new By Dream Hotel Group brands, announced plans to debut its iconic Dream Hotels brand, known for its vibrant dining, nightlife, and entertainment, in Louisville, Kentucky in 2025. The latest signing with Royal Investments, LLC marks the second Dream Hotel location for the developer, following the successful launch of Dream Nashville in 2019.

Designed by Miami-based CUBE3 architects with interiors by Josh Held and WATG, Dream Louisville will feature 168 beautifully designed guest rooms and suites, four original food and beverage concepts, including a signature restaurant, rooftop lounge and 10,000 square feet of private meeting and event space.

"Given the success of our partnership in Nashville, we jumped at the opportunity to work with Alex Marks and his talented team to introduce Dream Louisville as the new gem of Bourbon City," said Dream Hotel Group CEO Jay Stein. "Louisville is one of the fastest growing markets in the country and a critical addition to our growing portfolio. We are proud to play a role in creating what will be one of the most spectacular rehabilitations in downtown Louisville."

Alex Marks, Owner of Nashville-based Royal Investments, LLC, remarked: "After opening the Dream Hotel in 2019, I set my sites on the next city that embraced the same quality and energy we delivered in Nashville. Just two hours up the road, Louisville's historic buildings on Main Street is the perfect setting to bring the elevated experience to an already lively and welcoming city. Dream was on board day one and quickly jumped into action to begin designing a property with world-class accommodations, fine dining and chic entertainment experiences that they've delivered several times before."

Housed in the former Tapp Leather & Co. building, erected in 1888, Dream Louisville will celebrate the rich history and colorful pageantry of its hometown, breathing new life into the 19th century icon on Whiskey Row. Dream Louisville will comprise a combination of seven buildings located at 811-823 West Main Street, at the start of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail in downtown Louisville, just steps from the famous Frazier History Museum, Mohammad Ali Center and Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory, and a short drive to the legendary racetrack and home of the Kentucky Derby, Churchill Downs.

A walk along vibrant Main Street toward Whiskey Row allows visitors to enjoy the 1852-1905 Revivalist and Chicago School-style architecture and cast-iron storefronts, once used as offices and warehouses for the tobacco and bourbon industries. Restaurants, bars, distilleries, shops, and attractions, like the KFC Yum! Center arena and Belle of Louisville Riverboats along the Ohio River are highlights of the city's growing entertainment district, attracting local Kentuckians and world travelers alike.

"The Dream brand represents a vibrancy and sophisticated experience that we're confident will become a focal point of the neighborhood and the city of Louisville as a whole," said David Kuperberg, Chief Development Officer at Dream Hotel Group. "We have a great synergy with Alex Marks and his team at Royal Investments, and we are thrilled to partner with him again to bring our collective vision to life on Main Street Louisville."

"Dream Louisville will be a gamechanger for the market and the perfect addition to our growing portfolio," added Christian Glauser Benz, Senior Vice President of Development, Dream Hotel Group.

Underwritten by a design philosophy that is both surreal and contemporarily chic, Dream Hotels are individually curated properties that together comprise a unique narrative. With locations in the United States and abroad, the design and experience of each property is informed by its locale and taken to Dream status by a pool of world-renowned architects and interior designers. The result is a stay experience well-suited to the discerning traveler who seeks comfort in a truly cosmopolitan atmosphere.

With 16 hotels in its portfolio today and another 20+ locations in various stages of development worldwide, Dream Hotel Group remains one of the fastest growing independent lifestyle hotel companies in the world.

Hotel Law: The Consequences of Covid-19

As might be expected, the Hotel Law profession is contending with all types of legal issues stemming from the effects of Covid-19. Nearly all hotel employers are being impacted, dealing with issues such as leaves of absence, workers' classification, discrimination disputes, arbitration agreements, and union relations. In addition, some hotels are being obligated to comply with new Covid-19 health and safety laws, pertaining to workplaces that pose a risk of "imminent hazard."  There are also legal issues surrounding workplace Covid testing, and quarantining and isolation requirements. Worker compensation issues are also a concern when employees may have contracted Covid at work. New laws are classifying these illnesses as "occupational injuries" and therefore eligible for benefits. Other non-Covid legal issues that are coming to the forefront  involve an uptick of lawsuits pertaining to the American Disabilities Act and, in some states, there has been an expansion of the Family Leave Act. These are just a few of the subjects that the December issue of the Hotel Business Review will address in the area of Hotel Law.
