Red Roof Announces First HomeTowne Studios New-Build Hotel

HomeTowne Studios Comes to Bradenton Through Partnership With Fast-Growing Dhruv Management and Growth Accelerates as HomeTowne Studios Reaches Nearly 70 Properties Nationwide

USA, Columbus, Ohio. September 29, 2022

Red Roof®, the leader in economy lodging, announced that concrete has been poured and construction has begun on a new HomeTowne Studios by Red Roof in Bradenton, Florida.

The 124 -room HomeTowne Studios (HTS) is the first new-build property for HomeTowne Studios by Red Roof, which has already converted nearly 70 hotels to the HomeTowne Studios brand across the country.

The Bradenton property is owned and will be operated by Dhruv Management of Port Richey, Florida, which owns or operates more than 150 hotels nationwide.

"We are excited to partner with Dhruv Management on the development of the first ever new-build HomeTowne Studios hotel," said Michael Sharp, Vice President of Design, Construction, & Procurement at Red Roof. "This latest collaboration between Dhruv Management and Red Roof reflects the continuing strength of the economy extended-stay segment and the attractiveness of HomeTowne Studios for franchisees looking to expand their portfolio with a proven brand. We continue to innovate HomeTowne Studios with cost-cutting and operationally efficient enhancements that make our extended stay option a valuable investment for franchisees."

Building on the success of the initial launch of the HomeTowne Studios by Red Roof brand in 2018, which blazed a trail for the economy extended stay segment, and subsequent enhancements to the design made in 2021, the new prototype includes updated guestroom aesthetics, and a layout designed to set new standards for operational efficiency. The new HTS benefits from a cost-effective development footprint that emphasizes functionality without sacrificing the guest experience, such as open shelving which employs a hexagon design to allow for additional storage space.

"We are eager to launch the development of this new HomeTowne Studios Hotel in Bradenton," said Amit Patel, Chief Operating Officer of Dhruv Development. He continued, "This product is perfectly suited for the rapidly growing Bradenton market, and we are proud to continue and expand our relationship with Red Roof - which includes several additional hotels now under development."

The new hotel is expected to open in 2023 or early 2024.

Hotel Law: Legal Consequences

The pandemic provoked more than a global health crisis. It also disrupted world economies, financial markets and social systems on a massive scale. Naturally, there are legal consequences associated with this kind of severe business disruption and the issues will be litigated for years to come. In the hotel industry, there are several issues that are currently germane. One issue pertains to the legal obligations hotels have to re-hire employees who were laid off due to the pandemic. Lawsuits have been filed by former employees who claim that certain promises were made to them when they were furloughed, and they are suing hotels for breach of implied contract. Another major issue involves hotels suing their insurance companies for failing to cover their business losses due to the pandemic. Still other hotels have brought lawsuits against local governments for the strict restrictions that were placed on their businesses, chiefly restaurants and bars. These are just a few of the legal issues that will be addressed in the December issue of the Hotel Business Review.
