The Maidstone Hotel Makes its Debut in New Orleans Under the Ownership of ISMd
The Maidstone New Orleans officially opens its doors under the ownership of ISMD following their successful revamp of The Maidstone East Hampton property in 2024.
The Maidstone legacy is stepping into an exciting new chapter in the South guided by ISMD's visionary touch. With a passion for transforming historic boutique properties into modern-day sanctuaries, The Maidstone New Orleans marks the thrilling start of the brand's expansion— the first of many incredible hotels to join its growing collection. Dating back to 1956, when it was known as the Crescent Motel, a classic American motor lodge, this iconic property has been reimagined into a vibrant oasis and retreat, perfectly situated in the heart of NOLA's lively Mid-City neighborhood.
Debuting with a full design refresh led by Studio Tre, The Maidstone New Orleans beckons locals and visitors alike to bask in the hotel's unique history through its design with notable American mid-century references throughout. With great care taken to renovate and restore the architectural channel to its original spirit, the design evokes the brightest moments of then & now.
The intimate hotel has 18 rooms and suites, eight King Rooms, eight Queen Rooms and two King Suites, all extensively renovated with cork flooring, custom birch millwork and furniture, energizing the mix of stained tones and hues. Custom moon tapestries fabricated by Oaxacan textile artist Ismael Gutierrez Montano adorn each accommodation paired with beds in birch ply, custom built-in wardrobes, rattan mirrors and more. Beds are outfitted in Frette Linens and plush robes are available in-suite or on demand.
The Maidstone Lounge located in the lobby invites guests to sink into built-in banquettes with loose cushions while enjoying crafted cocktails on mahogany coffee tables and marble stone tops. Overhead, decorative beams hug the ceiling contrasting with terrazzo flooring and a leopard wool rug below tying the space together. Bringing outdoor indoors, a verdant palette deeply informed by New Orleans herself fills the interiors - sage olive tones of Spanish moss are at home just as much as the rust terracotta tones of the underside of the magnolia leaf. Upon entering the lobby, a striking green maestro quartzite check-in desk surrounded by walls in floor to ceiling glazed porcelain sets the scene.
Beyond its interiors, the property's gardens and grounds have been completely re-envisioned and overhauled, creating a space to gather, lounge and indulge. The perfect respite from the Louisiana heat, guests can dip into the saltwater pool complete with a bathing deck and tiled wall fountain. Green and white striped solar shades dance along with the architectural choreography, with a vibrant mix of indigo, chartreuse, olive green and electric oranges textiles and furnishings throughout. The Moon Garden flanking the indoor Maidstone Lounge, is home to a circular and sunken fire pit, lit by firelight as day turns to night. Craft cocktails will be offered in addition to pool bites in partnership with local food companies and neighborhood favorites.
