Millennium Hotels and Resorts Opens M Social Hotel New York Downtown
M Social Hotel New York Downtown has officially opened, unveiling a bold new era for Millennium Hotels and Resorts after an extensive transformation and rebrand. Positioned as New York City's premier lifestyle destination for business and leisure travelers, the 569-room property delivers views of the Hudson River and skyline, a signature dining experience at Beast & Butterflies, and versatile next-generation meeting spaces.
Designed by award-winning firm BHDM Design, the hotel's interiors reinterpret the Financial District's modern energy and iconic landmarks, including The Oculus and Charging Bull. Bold, flowing architectural elements run throughout the hotel, anchored by the hotel's signature motif of layered curves and ribbed patterns that echo the movement and dynamism of Lower Manhattan. The influence of Wall Street also shapes the design. Murals of the iconic Charging Bull in guest rooms pay homage to the district's ambition and resilience, while expansive city views highlight New York's limitless potential. Warm red and gold tones paired with dark woods and metallic finishes create a vibrant, welcoming backdrop that reflects both the dynamism of Manhattan and the social spirit of the brand. Sustainability is thoughtfully integrated throughout, with LED lighting and eco-conscious materials ensuring the hotel remains as forward-thinking as the city it represents.
Kwek Leng Beng, Executive Chairman, Millennium Hotels and Resorts, said: "The opening of M Social New York Downtown marks another step forward in Millennium's transformation journey. Guided by our vision of Growth, Entrepreneurial spirit, and Transformation (GET), we continue to shape brands that speak to the evolving aspirations of modern travellers.
This new addition reflects our confidence in the future of travel and our long-term commitment to building distinctive experiences in the world's most dynamic cities. As we expand across key global markets, Millennium remains focused on combining creativity with commercial strength to deliver hospitality that is bold, relevant, and future-ready."
Kwek Eik Sheng, Executive Director, Millennium Hotels and Resorts, said: "M Social is where design and storytelling meet. Each property draws from the character of its city to create experiences that feel both personal and inspired. In New York Downtown, we've re-imagined the area's raw, creative energy into a setting that invites discovery and social connection.
From Singapore to Paris and soon Sunnyvale, every M Social hotel is a reflection of its neighbourhood — distinctive in design, yet united by a shared creative spirit."
Saurabh Prakash, Interim Chief Operating Officer & Chief Commercial Officer, Millennium Hotels and Resorts, added: "The debut of M Social New York Downtown strengthens our presence in one of the world's most competitive hospitality markets and underscores the brand's strong commercial momentum. With robust performance across our global portfolio and exciting new openings ahead, M Social continues to drive Millennium's lifestyle growth strategy. We are proud to deliver hotels that celebrate design, community, and the evolving spirit of modern travel."
"We're thrilled to officially welcome guests to M Social Downtown," said Alex Spektor, Managing Director, M Social Hotel New York Downtown. "Our hotel is designed as an urban oasis, a place where travelers and locals can connect, unwind, and immerse themselves in the energy of Lower Manhattan."
From Downtown New York to the Metaverse
Building on M Social Decentraland, the brand's virtual hotel in the Metaverse launched in 2022, M Social is now introducing the New York Edition, inspired by the Downtown property's design and social spirit. Guests and global audiences can explore a digital version of the hotel and connect with the M Social community from anywhere.
As part of this launch, players are invited to leap into a new interactive game. Taking on the role of the Beast, they'll race through the bustling streets of New York, past iconic landmarks, collecting coins along the way. Participants stand to win attractive prizes, including special discounts on stays at M Social Hotel New York Downtown, bringing the virtual experience full circle into the real world.
The Lobby Becomes Manhattan's Living Room
At the heart of the hotel, the lobby has been reimagined as a communal hub. More than a check-in point, it serves as a stage for live music, cultural pop-ups, and art showcases. Guests and locals are invited to gather, connect, and experience the rhythm of Lower Manhattan.
Beast & Butterflies Brings Spanish Tapas Downtown
The property's new signature restaurant, Beast & Butterflies, offers a modern Spanish tapas experience with a Manhattan twist. A moody yet convivial atmosphere sets the stage for shared plates, Spanish wines, inventive gin & tonics, and craft cocktails. It is designed as a lively destination for both intimate dinners and group celebrations.
Sweeping Views, Smarter Stays
The hotel features 569 newly renovated rooms, including 98 suites. Each blends contemporary design with nods to the neighbourhood's heritage. Highlights include sweeping skyline and Hudson River views, intelligent workspaces, custom artwork, and sustainable amenities such as eco-friendly bath products and aluminium water bottles with refill stations on every floor.
Next-Generation Meeting and Event Spaces
M Social Downtown offers 3,550 square feet of meeting and event space across six rooms, accommodating up to 160 guests. Outfitted with 98-inch 4K displays, advanced conferencing tools, and dynamic lighting, the spaces are designed for seamless collaboration, whether hosting corporate meetings or social celebrations.
