Seminars Addressing Global Issues and Hot Button Topics
WHITE PLAINS, NY, October 3, 2007. More than 35,000 hospitality industry professionals will gather at the 92nd annual International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show(R) (IH/M&RS), November 10-13, 2007, where a comprehensive lineup of seminars by industry experts will set the stage for a unique professional development opportunity. Taking place at New York City's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, the IH/M&RS will present seminars addressing pertinent topics - from human resources and marketing strategies to new technologies and hospitality design. Highlighting the educational platform will be a keynote presentation by political couple Mary Matalin and James Carville, during the November 10, 2007, Hospitality Leadership Forum. Education
The program begins on Saturday, November 10, with the Hospitality Leadership Forum, a full day conference addressing such topics as "Web-based Guest Feedback: People are Talking About Your Hotel," "Data Security and PCI Standards: Making Sure Your Organization is Protected and Compliant," "The Context of Leadership: First Look at Who Your Followers Are," "Going Green Initiative" and "Cap-Ex: A Study of Capital Expenditures in the Hotel Industry." Hospitality Leadership Forum program content targets senior level hospitality managers and offers new approaches for human resources, sales and marketing, leadership and more.
Political powerhouse couple Mary Matalin and James Carville will present the keynote address during the 2007 Hospitality Leadership Forum, from 12:45 - 2:15 pm, on Saturday, November 10. The presentation will offer attendees an enlightening and entertaining look at today's most important political issues, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at Washington politics. Matalin and Carville will combine their unique experiences as political insiders to provide the audience with a candid analysis of today's hot button issues from both sides, setting the stage for a highly-charged exchange of political views. The complete Hospitality Leadership Forum will feature 11 programs, including the highly-acclaimed "CEO Leadership Panel" and "U.S. Lodging Industry Summit Panel," both led by notable hospitality industry leaders. Seminars will continue throughout Sunday, November 11, and Monday, November 12, addressing such topics as "Personalizing Guest Experiences to Increase Market Share," "Women in Lodging: A View from the Top," "Etiquette is THE Essential Executive Accessory," "Greening Operations: How to Run a More Profitable Enterprise Without Compromising Guest Satisfaction" and "Next Generation E-Business - Issues and Opportunities."
In addition, foodservice-focused programs will include "Late-Breaking News from the 21st Century Kitchen: Innovative Equipment, Technologies and Techniques," "Designing a Kitchen that Works," "Food Arts' Annual Trends Survey," "Sex and the Restaurant World" and "Green Your Restaurant the Smart Way."

Culinary Presentations
Renowned chefs will entertain attendees in the IH/M&RS Demonstration Kitchen on Sunday, November 11, and Monday, November 12, where both pastry and traditional cooking techniques will be demonstrated and samples of the finished products will be offered to participants. The Societ'e Culinaire Philanthropique will present two pastry demonstrations, and Food Arts magazine will reveal the signature techniques of Chef Josh DeChellis of Bar Fry, who will demonstrate four preparations of flavorful half-cured fish. Food Arts will offer a second demonstration of a Tuscan steak dinner by Chef Cesare Casella of Maremma Trattoria Toascana. The ICA-ACF Big Apple Chapter will round out the demonstration schedule with two presentations - "Is Sous Vide Legal?" and "How Middle Eastern Filo Dough Traveled through the Balkans to Become Viennese Strudel." Demonstrations are open to the public on Sunday, November 11, and Monday, November 12.
Events
The return of Late Night with IH/M&RS at B.B. King Blues Club and Grill on Sunday, November 11, will offer attendees an opportunity to network with peers in a fun-filled atmosphere. Hosted by the American Hotel & Lodging Association Allied Executive Committee, the event will feature live music, hors d'oeuvres and drinks from 9:00 pm - midnight. Networking among the hospitality design community will highlight the 27th annual Gold Key Awards for Excellence in Hospitality Design, where the year's most lavish and innovative new restaurants and hotels will be celebrated. The finalists and winners - as well as "Designer of the Year" HBA/Hirsch Bedner Associates - will be honored at the Gold Key Awards Breakfast on Monday, November 12, 7:30 - 9:30 am, at New York City's Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Tickets are $75 each, and available online at www.ihmrs.com/goldkey/breakfast.html. Proceeds from the breakfast will benefit the scholarship fund of NEWH, Inc., the Hospitality Industry Network.
The 92nd annual International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show will run Saturday, November 10, through Tuesday, November 13, 2007, at New York City's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Following a full-day of conference and networking activities on Saturday, November 10, the IH/M&RS will feature three full days of exhibits from Sunday, November 11, through Tuesday, November 13.
