Cornell Conducts First Executive Development Program in India
Using Remote Internet 2 Technology
ITHACA, NY, September 17, 2007. Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration has teamed with Sathguru Management Consultants to deliver the first executive education program in India through Internet 2 Technology.
Cornell has used this technology to deliver live faculty lectures from Ithaca, N.Y. to Hyderabad, India, for a weeklong course on 'Managing Strategic Growth and Leadership in Emerging Markets.' This also marked the first time the school's Executive Education unit delivered live faculty lectures, presentations and video in a format that enabled real-time interaction between students and faculty. This was done through video conferencing and Internet 2 Technology.
The program was attended by delegates from Serena Group, Pan Pacific, The Oberoi Group, The Park Group, Trident Hilton Hotels, Radisson Hotels and other leading hotel chains across India and several neighboring countries. Content focused on strategic management and marketing, financial management and recent trends within the hotel industry.
'As soon as the remote instruction began, I forgot that the instructor was over 8,000 miles away,' said one participant. 'My conversation with him was like having him in the same room. The quality of the presentation was extremely outstanding.'
'Cornell's breakthrough in India reflects our commitment to stay on the cutting edge of emerging technology and to deliver the finest management education in the hospitality industry,' said Tom Kline, director of Executive Education at Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration.
