Topping Off Ceremony for the New Regent Boston

Regent Hotels & Resorts Marks Milestone for The Regent Boston at Battery Wharf

. October 14, 2008

BOSTON, MA, July 26, 2007. Regent Hotels & Resorts and Development Management Corporation officially added their signature to the Boston landscape with a "topping off" ceremony for the new Regent Boston at Battery Wharf on June 25, 2007. To mark the construction milestone for the new hotel, industry, city, and community leaders gathered to sign a steel beam and break the traditional champagne bottle christening the site before the beam was hoisted into position. In honor of its location in Boston's historic North End Waterfront, Boston historian Dr. Robert Krimm buried a time capsule into one of the basement columns for future visitors marked "To Be Opened On June 25, 2107."

Ceremony attendees, including Harold Theran, developer, and Pat Moscaritolo, of the Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau, gathered along with the United States Coast Guard to commemorate this important addition to Boston's North End Waterfront. The Regent Boston at Battery Wharf, slated to open in the spring, will be an integral part of a major new mixed-use development destination with 104-unit hotel-serviced residential condominiums, a marina, and a Coast Guard Museum. The Regent Boston at Battery Wharf will be a 150-room luxury hotel offering guests signature Regent amenities, including on-site access to a 7,500-square-foot restaurant and bar with waterfront views and featuring "Cuisine Extraordinaire" by three-star Michelin chef Guy Martin, and an 18,000-square-foot Guerlain spa.

Guy Martin's highly anticipated restaurant, his first in North America, will be a destination for those who love fine cuisine. Martin, one of only nine 3-Star Michelin Chefs in Paris, has been celebrated for his innovative and brilliant work at Le Grand V'efour. His noteworthy career has included numerous accolades. He was appointed counselor to the President of the French High-Gastronomy Chamber (1994), received the highest ranking in France's Champ'erard Guide, and was made "Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres" by the French Minister of Culture. He has been recognized as "Young Chef of the Year" (1995), "Best Chef of the Year" (1996 and 1999), and "Best European Chef" (1999). The new 80-seat restaurant, opening in late 2007, is a partnership between Martin, Battery Wharf and Regent Hotels & Resorts.

Access to world-class facilities at the Guerlain Spa will make The Regent Boston at Battery Wharf the second Regent property to offer this exclusive service. The first Guerlain Spa in North America will be located at The Regent Bal Harbour, opening later this year in Florida.

"Regent Hotels & Resorts is delighted to mark this major milestone in the development of The Regent Boston at Battery Wharf," says Steve Hedberg, vice president, operations and implementation for Regent Hotels & Resorts. "Together with Development Management Corporation, we are creating one of the most exciting destinations in Boston in years. The Regent Boston at Battery Wharf will offer guests the finest in luxury service in a beautiful hotel located at a spectacular waterfront location in one of the most historic cities in the U.S."

Event attendees included Kerim Evin, senior vice president of Skanska USA Building; Francois L. Nivaud, principal of New England Management Services; Don Birch, senior vice president of Leggat McCall Properties LLC; Jay Szymanski, project manager of The Archtectural Team Inc.; Pat Moscaritolo, president and CEO of the Grater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau; and Andy Clyburn of the United States Coast Guard.
