Trianon Palace & Spa to be Transformed

. October 14, 2008

PARIS, France, July 23, 2007. The legendary Trianon Palace & Spa in Versailles will undergo a complete refurbishment and transformation this summer.

Noted interior designer Fiona Thompson will oversee the renovation of the 200-room property, located just steps away from the famed Chateau de Versailles, while landscape designer Louis Benech will restore the hotel's famed gardens.

This first part of the Trianon Palace's transformation will be completed by August 27, including the 101 rooms and 20 suites in the Palace wing, and will pay tribute to the existing historical architecture while incorporating a new level of sophistication, refinement and modernity. The 99 rooms located in the Pavillion wing (which will remain open for guests during the Palace room renovations), along with the spa and restaurants, will be completed by early 2008.

The newly renovated Trianon Palace & Spa, to be completed in February 2008, will feature a newly restored entrance hall, reception area, gallery, restaurant and brasserie overlooking the infamous Ch^ateau gardens. Elegant yet understated, the rooms will incorporate light and contrast the rich dark wood furnishings with luxurious materials in vibrant monochrome colors.

"The Trianon Palace & Spa is a cultural landmark. While the hotel will undergo a full renovation, we are respecting the hotel's architectural structure and details which have always made the hotel such a special destination. We are excited to be working with the world's leading designers to envision a new level of modern luxury, while paying tribute to the rich historical legacy of the Versailles," said Pascal Groell, General Manager of the Trianon Palace & Spa.

Nestled in the heart of the town of Versailles, on the edge of the Ch^ateau grounds, the Trianon Palace & Spa is located across from the famous Ch^ateau de Versailles in the town's historic district. It is also close to the some of the region's most prestigious golf courses and is less than 30 minutes from Paris.

Built in 1909 by the architect Ren'e Sergent, best known for designing the Plaza Ath'en'ee in Paris, the legendary Trianon Palace & Spa was built on the site of an old convent. Situated at the end of the avenues in the royal gardens of Versailles, it quickly became the favorite holiday destination for Parisian high society. The beauty and elegance of the palace and its legendary gardens attracted the literary world including Marcel Proust, Sarah Bernhardt and Ren'e Lacoste. Other notable guests included The Duke and Duchess of Windsor who spent their honeymoon at the Trianon Palace & Spa, and Sacha Guitry who stayed there with Yvonne Printemps during the filming of "Si Versailles m''etait cont'e" (Tales of Versailles).
