The center, located at Maritime Building #2, 103 France Street, is a resource for employees of Harrah's New Orleans, Grand Casino Biloxi, Grand Casino Gulfport and the Mid-South Service Center who were displaced by Hurricane Katrina. The Information Center will be open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. -- 6:00 p.m. and includes such services as:
- On-site, primary health care services; * Assistance with compensation and benefits for displaced workers; * Online access to crucial services and information, such as FEMA applications, mortgage information, unemployment information and online banking; * Listings of available shelters, local housing and transportation; * Post Office assistance with change of address and voter registration cards. Employees will also be able to file a change of address with Harrah's for future mailings from the company; * Information on nationwide job opportunities within the Harrah's network; and, * Access to e-mail and to the Harrah's Intranet with crucial relief and recovery information.
Harrah's currently has Employee Information Centers operating in Lake Charles, La., and Gulfport, Miss., each providing similar services as the Baton Rouge location.
Employees unable to visit an assistance center in person can call the Harrah's Employee Information line at 877-422-7466. Harrah's requests that all displaced employees visit the information centers or call the information line so the company can account for all employees and direct them to relief services.
As previously announced, Harrah's will pay employees from its affected properties their regularly scheduled base pay, up to 90 days, and is giving these employees first preference for available jobs at other Harrah's properties.
The public can assist Harrah's employees by visiting the company's Web site -- http://www.harrahs.com/ -- for additional information on how to help.
